The digital world can feel overwhelming to all of us. This class is designed to introduce students to the basics of using computers. The class assumes no prior knowledge of computers. Students will learn the differences between types of devices (desktop, laptop, table, phone), how to use basic functions of a computer and troubleshooting tips for common issues. The class meets weekly for four consecutive weeks, with three sessions that are instructor-led and cover material on the given topic and a fourth session that is conducted as an open lab for students to ask questions, take proctored exams, or get more information.

Expanding on what we learned in Tinkercad Design Level 1 & 3D Printer Badging, we will grow our knowledge and create customizable 3D vessels that can be printed at the Library. Ages 9 and up.Makerspace classes can fill up quickly, so it is best to register close to when registration opens.Prerequisite: You must have taken Tinkercad Design Level 1 & 3D Printer Badging. This class will expand on skills taught previously so please practice using Tinkercad until you are comfortable with the basic functions before taking Level 2. (The online badging video, 3D Printing for Tweens, and other software classes such as Blender and Fusion 360 do not fulfill this prerequisite.)Make sure you are able to access your Tinkercad account. ​​Toss it? No Way! Fix it at Repair Café!​Together with our Repair Café volunteers, you will disassemble, troubleshoot, and possibly repair your broken items. Save money, help the environment, and learn repair skills with your local community!​We can help with:- ​Garments (mending only and it must be unsoiled)- ​Jewelry- ​Sewing machines- ​Small appliances such as vacuums- ​Small electronics such as radios and lamps- ​Wooden Items​​We can also help with bikes, but it requires special equipment so please let us know in advance if you need to bring one in.We cannot help with:- ​Alterations of garments- ​Large appliances (stoves, refrigerators, etc.)- ​Vehicles- ​Computers, tablets, and phones- ​Any item that is deemed hazardous to people, the equipment, or the space​Our Guidelines- ​Carry-in items only.- ​You must stay with your property while waiting and during the repair. No drop-offs and only one item will be worked on at a time.- ​Repair Trainers offer no guarantee of items being repaired by them or with their assistance and are not liable if objects repaired do not work properly at home.- ​Repair Trainers are not obliged to reassemble disassembled appliances that cannot be repaired.- ​You will need to sign our agreement before our volunteers can assist you.​​Disclaimer: Please know you bring your items to be repaired at your own risk. Because repairs are made by unpaid volunteers, there may be risks. Neither the facilitators of Repair Cafés nor the Repair Trainers are liable for any loss or damage that may result from advice or instructions, for the loss of items handed over for repair, for indirect or consequential loss, or for any other kind of loss resulting from repairs made during Repair Café. The Shop Bot Desktop CNC is an all-in-one computer-controlled mill, router, and drill that lets you make your own projects with wood or acrylic. Learn the basics of designing with V-Carve Pro and then carve out your project on the CNC. Transfer these skills to make custom signs, cutting boards, and picture frames that you could not do on other machines. What will you create? All materials will be provided. Ages 16 and up.No previous experience required, but an understanding of vector graphics will help. Take the first steps into designing graphics for laser cutting. Using Inkscape, a free vector graphics software, we will create custom project designs and then engrave and cut them on 1/8" wood pieces. No previous experience required, and all materials will be provided. Ages 13 – 18.After completing this badging class, you will be able to use the 3D printers on your own during open hours at the makerspaces at East and Sand Creek libraries, as well as Library 21c. If you are unable to attend this badging class or would prefer not to attend in person, a virtual badging option is available.This class is only for teens ages 13 – 18, however we have Inkscape and laser badging classes for ages 9 and up as well. You can find other Inkscape classes for tweens, adults, and seniors at all three makerspaces.Participants will need to have a makerspace waiver signed by an adult guardian in order to attend this class or use the makerspace. The signer must be present and show an ID to complete the waiver but does not need to stay for the class.All participants must have their own library card.
