Anacortes Charm Walk May 2, 2026 - May 16, 2026 Discover the charm of downtown Anacortes while collecting unique charms from local businesses to create your very own spring nautical charm bracelet or necklace!  Perfect for treating yourself, or gifting for Mother's Day.  Or, make it a fun activity to do with your mom!  How it works: Register for your bracelet or necklace using the registration link. A limited number will be available for cash purchase in the Visitor Information Center (weekends only).  Pick up your bracelet beginning April 27th from the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce (weekdays) or the Visitor Information Center (weekends). Join us for an exclusive photography oriented small group expedition to Smith and Minor Islands, where just 4-6 participants will spend four hours on our Salish Sea School vessel exploring popular seabird and marine mammal hotspots for photographing Tufted Puffins of the Salish Sea. Our low to the water vessel and experienced captains allow for optimal wildlife photography and viewing. Boat around Smith and Minor Islands, where some of the last Tufted Puffins in the Salish Sea can be seen nesting, fishing, and soaring over the waves. Each tour offers a unique exploration of the Puffins’ lives at Smith Island — and with luck, some rare species sightings as well like our Horned Puffin!

Every Saturday we choose a unique island destination as part of the Island Express Charters Adventure Series.   In 2025, we launched a seasonal Adventure Series designed to help people get outside and explore our beautiful backyard at an economical fare. Most Adventure Series trips are just $45 roundtrip for adults (a 50% savings from our standard fares), making non-ferry served island access more attainable for our community. Our Adventure Series focuses on creating space for people to connect with the natural world: hiking island trails, picnicking on remote beaches, visiting marine state parks, and enjoying bird and wildlife observation through a “create your own adventure” format. Saturday, May 16th we will be heading to Burrows Island Lighthouse. A docent from the Northwest Schooner Society will guide you through the Burrows Island Light Station – sharing stories of the keepers who lived in isolation, kept the light burning, and watching over these busy waters for more than a century. You will step inside the buildings, wander the headland, and soak up the views that few get to see. Pack a picnic, and enjoy lunch overlooking the strait – watching ships and wildlife move through the strait just as the keepers once did.   Price: $45 roundtrip adults *50% of the fare price will be donated to Northwest Schooner Society to help continue their restoration process.   Moderate stair climbing is involved, children ages 12+, no pets please The boat will depart Skyline Marina at 3pm with a 15 minute travel time to the island. Join an adventure with purpose. Every Puffin you spot and every observation you make contributes to ongoing research and conservation efforts. Beyond the boat, your ticket helps local students experience the Salish Sea for the first time—sparking the next generation of scientists or ocean stewards. Trip Highlights: Boat around Smith and Minor Islands, where some of the last Tufted Puffins in the Salish Sea can be seen nesting, fishing, and soaring over the waves. Each tour offers a unique exploration of the Puffins’ lives at Smith Island — and with luck, some rare species sightings as well like our Horned Puffin! During spring tours, participants have the possibility to observe Puffin breeding behavior, July-August tours have the opportunity to observe Puffins carrying forage fish to feed to their chicks, and September tours have the opportunity to see Puffins in all stages of their breeding to non-breeding plumage change before they head back out to the Pacific Ocean for our winter!

Every Saturday we choose a unique island destination as part of the Island Express Charters Adventure Series.   In 2025, we launched a seasonal Adventure Series designed to help people get outside and explore our beautiful backyard at an economical fare. These trips are self-guided experiences - we provide the ride and the access, and you set the pace and plan your day. There’s no formal guide on site, giving you the freedom to explore the island on your own terms and craft an adventure that’s entirely your own. Saturday, May 23rd, bring your bike and join us for an Adventure Series trip to Lopez Island – the perfect destination for two-wheeled exploration. Known for its quiet roads and gentle terrain, Lopez is a cyclist’s dream! Pedal to the spectacular Watmough Bay Preserve on the island’s southeast side, where a short walk leads to a cresent beach framed by dramatic rock cliffs and open water views. Cycle through rolling farmland and pastoral fields before rolling into Lopez Village – the perfect place to pause for refreshments, snacks, and boutique shopping. With miles of scenic routes and plenty to discover, Lopez Island is the perfect locale for a bike-powered island adventure! The boat will depart Skyline Marina at 11am with a 30-45 minute travel time to the island.
