Benjamin Banneker, Astronomy and the founding of Washington, DC Location: Jones Point  Time: 7pm-9pm Join the NPS at Jones Point to see how the FIRST boundary stone of Washington, DC, the   patriot, Benjamin Banneker and astronomy all come together!  Early surveyors used the stars  and notable landmarks to determine boundaries. In this program visitors will see the first  boundary stone of Washington, DC., learn about Benjamin Banneker and see notable celestial  formations. A telescope will be provided, and a ranger will guide the group around the night  sky.

Location: Arlington House Time: 9:30am-12pm No registration is needed and no fees will be charged. Walk with ANC Historians and NPS historians as we discuss the Revolutionary War Veterans  buried in Arlington Cemetery and visit some of the burial locations. Among those buried in the  Cemetery was James Lingan, killed in Baltimore at the outbreak of the War of 1812, who was  friends with Henry “Light-Horse Harry” Lee, the father of Robert E. Lee, and who was honored  by a funeral eulogy presented by George Washington Parke Custis.

Sunset Parade at the US Marine Corps War Memorial                     Dates: June 9 16 23 30 July 14 21 28 August 4 11   *NOT JULY 7Location: US Marine Corps War Memorial Time: Ranger Program 6:00pm Military Parade 7:00pm Admission is free and no reservations are required. At 6:00pm the National Park Service will give ranger talks on the history of the memorial and distribute new Junior Ranger books and badges depicting the memorial.  The military parade will then begin at 7:00pm.This 45-minute ceremony features "The Commandant's Own" United States Marine Drum &  Bugle Corps and the United States Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon  showcasing Marine Corps precision discipline and tradition.

Enjoy sweeping views of Washington, D.C. while guest carillonneurs play free concerts of jazz, pop, and patriotic music on the carillon's 53 bells. Join Park Rangers to learn more about the Netherlands Carillon's history, and it's symbolism of friendship.We recommend bringing lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the performance from the lawns surrounding the Carillon. As an outdoor event held during summer evenings, guests are encouraged to plan accordingly. Free parking at the memorial is extremely limited. Several paid parking options are available within walking distance of the Carillon on a first-come, first-served basis. It is recommended that guests use a form of public transportation. The D.C. Metro system, National Mall Circulator Loop bus, and various micromobility services (bicycles, scooters) offer convenient ways to reach the Carillon.

Parking is extremely limited at the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial, which is the closest parking lot to this event. Please consider public transportation, carpooling, or rideshare option to visit this event.
