Come to Fort Hunt on September 25 at 7:30 PM for a special screening of Dr Strangelove at Pavilion A!  Every Friday in September, a new movie will screen. In lieu of previews, a park ranger will deliver a talk about how each movie connects to Fort Hunt’s twentieth century history and this year’s sub-theme of science and technology before each screening. Separated from his parents, he is eventually captured and taken to Soo Chow confinement camp, next to a captured Chinese airfield. Amidst the sickness and food shortages in the camp, Jim attempts to reconstruct his former life, all the while bringing spirit and dignity to those around him.September 11: Das BootA German submarine patrols the Atlantic Ocean during World War II, manned by a crew that must contend with tense conflicts and long stretches of confined boredom. Fort Hunt Film Festival Location: Fort Hunt (Area A) Time: 7:30pm Come to Fort Hunt every Friday in September at 7:30 PM to see movies about World War II or  the Cold War! This year’s sub-theme of science and technology will explore how the Second  World War spurred advances in these fields that would change the world forever. In lieu of  previews, a park ranger will deliver a talk about how each movie connects to Fort Hunt’s twentieth century history before each screening. The movies are inside a pavilion, so bring a  chair, but not a blanket. Visitors may also bring their own food to enjoy during the show. Enjoy sweeping views of Washington, D.C. while guest carillonneurs play free concerts of jazz, pop, and patriotic music on the carillon's 53 bells. Join Park Rangers to learn more about the Netherlands Carillon's history, and it's symbolism of friendship.We recommend bringing lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the performance from the lawns surrounding the Carillon. As an outdoor event held during summer evenings, guests are encouraged to plan accordingly. Free parking at the memorial is extremely limited. Several paid parking options are available within walking distance of the Carillon on a first-come, first-served basis. It is recommended that guests use a form of public transportation. The D.C. Metro system, National Mall Circulator Loop bus, and various micromobility services (bicycles, scooters) offer convenient ways to reach the Carillon.

Parking is extremely limited at the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial, which is the closest parking lot to this event. Please consider public transportation, carpooling, or rideshare option to visit this event.

Enjoy views of Saturn at its brightest and largest while it is opposite the sun in the night sky! Join park rangers at Fort Hunt Park on October 4 for ranger talks, constellation tours and telescope viewing! Bring a camp chair or blanket and a red flashlight if you have one. A telescope will be provided to share. Event may be cancelled due to inclement weather.
