The Alden Theatre is expanding our ASL-interpreted programming for the 2025â2026 season! Weâre thrilled to be partnering with Joyful Signing to make our productions more accessible to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. For each of these performances, weâve reserved a specific seating section labeled âASLâ to ensure the best view of both the interpreters and the stage. Starting March 27th ASL will be available at all Wednesday morning Storytime programs. Programs are free, no registration required.  Here's what you can expect at Storytime: When: Every Wednesday Time: Museum doors open at 10 am, check in at the front desk to find the Storytime group. ASL provided at 10:30 reading. Where: Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden What: Each week, we explore a new and exciting theme through read-alouds filled with music, tales, and plenty of movement. Kids and caregivers are encouraged to participate in hands-on art maker projects inspired by the Hirshhornâs renowned collection. Storytime Calendar    Before March 27th, ASL interpretation can be requested by contacting us at [email protected]. While we recommend 1-2 weeks' advance notice for such requests, it's not required. We're here to ensure that everyone can fully participate and enjoy our Storytime sessions.

ASL Chat â Sunday Silent Social at Fairfax Wegmans Whether you're Deaf, HoH, an interpreter, or an ASL student we welcome all levels of signers to come join us for an evening of ASL socializing and practice. This event occurs on the first and third Sundays of each month, in the heart of Fairfax County at Wegman's (corner of Route 29 and Monument Drive). We can be found on the upper level, typically near the stairs. We generally start at 7 pm. For ASL beginners, it is recommended you know the ASL alphabet and some basic signs as these are not ASL classes. Regardless, we are always welcoming so donât be discouraged to attend an event; this is very informal. Note, some attendees arrive early and grab some of Wegmanâs food for dinner, so you can combine a shopping trip with the ASL practice.
