National Coaches Day is celebrated on October 6th to honor coaches for their contributions to people's lives. President Richard Nixon established the day in 1972 with Proclamation 4157, which was issued after Senate Joint Resolution 213 authorized and requested the president to do so. In his proclamation, Nixon said that coaches can help people develop important attitudes, such as teamwork, discipline, and a healthy attitude towards competition. He also said that coaches can help people learn how to win gracefully and grow from defeat, and that they represent the best qualities of the American character.CISD also celebrates our instructional coaching staff in a celebration this day.
