A Sacramento-born vocalist, rapper, and spoken-word artist, Hobo Johnson rose to fame in 2018 when his arresting performance of “Peach Scone” in NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest went viral. His Cincinnati-recorded debut album, The Rise of Hobo Johnson (2017), led to a deal with Reprise Records. He followed with The Fall of Hobo Johnson (2019) on Warner, which featured the hit singles “Typical Story” and “Uglykid” and earned placements at festivals like Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza. On Tuesday, December 9th the Community Center for the Performing Arts proudly welcomes Mason Jennings to the WOW Hall. Minneapolis songwriter Mason Jennings shares his new video for the single, “Only Lovers Welcome” from his brand new album, Underneath The Roses out now via Loosegroove Records. Underneath The Roses is available on limited-edition colored vinyl and is available here. Watch and share the video for “Only Lovers Welcome” here. Jennings writes that the songs from Underneath The Roses were, “Written in an unprecedented burst,” following the birth of his son, Western, in March 2022. Jennings explains, “I hadn’t written any songs in about a year. I had been dealing with the psychological after effects of the pandemic as well as the loss of my dad. So, when Western was born I didn’t expect to be writing much. But immediately he was responding to music in a very intense way. For this album, between May and November 2022, I wrote 48 songs! They certainly uplifted me and connected me with the creative spirit, and spirit in general, again. They cover all kinds of ground but, when I listen back, I think the central theme is overcoming fear with love.” Jennings also released a video for, “No Ordinary Friend,” which he explains, “Depicts two of the most important decisions a person can make. One, whether or not they believe in a loving higher power and two, who they decide to choose as a life long romantic partner. This song is referring to both of those and the choices I’ve made.” “Stone Gossard and Regan Hagar from Loosegroove Records helped me edit the 48 down to 11. I then enlisted the help of my Painted Shield bandmates to record the songs.” Jennings and Gossard are ongoing collaborators in the band Painted Shield, who released their 2021 debut album on Loosegroove, the influential indie label that Gossard founded back in 1994 issued records from acts such as Critters Buggin, Malfunkshun, Weapon of Choice and Devilhead, and was the launching point for Queens of the Stone Age’s debut album in 1998. Jenning’s previous album ‘Real Heart’ came out in January 2022 and received Triple/Non-comm radio across KCMP Minneapolis, WFPK Louisville, WPYA Birmingham, KRCL Salt Lake City, WMMM Madison, WQKL Ann Arbor, KCSN LA, KRVB Boise, WCLZ Portland, WDSE Duluth, WRLT Nashville, WXPN Philly, WXRV Boston, & WZEW Mobile. Two Runner On Wednesday, Dec. 10th the Community Center for the Performing Arts proudly welcomes Two Runner to the WOW Hall. Two Runner is songwriter Paige Anderson and fiddler Emilie Rose from the hills of Northern California. The folk duo emits a ray of unprocessed realness through their well-crafted songs and instrumental skills. Both growing up in a rural mountain town, best friends Paige Anderson and Emilie Rose learned folk music and performance from a young age, and now tour nationally as Two Runner. Through the mediums of clawhammer banjo, vocal harmonies, oldtime fiddle, and flatpicking guitar, Two Runner has a sound that is strongly rooted in American folk music combined with Paige’s wistful songwriting. Two Runner self-released their debut album, Modern Cowboy, in the spring of 2023 and have shared the stage with Sierra Ferrell, Watchhouse, Jesse Daniel, Nick Shoulders, Charlie Parr and many more. Songwriter Paige Anderson grew up touring in her family bluegrass band, Anderson Family Bluegrass, starting at the age of 9. The family of six traveled for about 12 years as Anderson Family Bluegrass and later the sibling band, The Fearless Kin. Paige wrote her first song with Chuck Ragan at 15, which kickstarted her love for songwriting.Transitioning into diverse musical roles, including a stint as bassist for Family of the Year in 2018, Paige has continually evolved her craft, charting new artistic directions for herself and Two Runner. Fiddler Emilie Rose was raised on Celtic fiddle and fiddle camps starting at the age of 9. In her early years, she led Celtic trio, The String Sisters, who played together for 10 years in the Sierra Nevada Foothills. Emilie then went on to study at Berklee College of Music and was mentored by the greats such as Bruce Molsky, Natalie Haas, and Darol Anger, where she graduated in 2020. She moved back to Northern California and later in the year met Paige Anderson for the first time, as neighbors and joined Two Runner. Together, the duo has been touring for over 2 years solidly, forging their sound and path through festivals and venues, winding highways and friendship. It’s undeniable that Two Runner brings a rich mix to the folk music world, with their harmonies, banjo pickin’, and dirt kickin’ duo.

Sunsquabi On Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025, the Community Center for the Performing Arts presents Sunsquabi at the WOW Hall. Music has the power to move us—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. For SunSquabi—Kevin Donohue [guitar, keys, production], Josh Fairman [bass, synth], and Scotty Zwang [drums]—that power lives in the unspoken language they share on stage and in the studio. With millions of streams and high-energy performances at venues like Red Rocks Amphitheatre, they’ve carved out a space where electronic production, jam-band freedom, and funk-rooted grooves collide. Now, the Colorado-based trio turns the page with their most defining release yet: a self-titled album that reintroduces SunSquabi in their purest form. More than a record, SunSquabi is a creative reset—a declaration of who they are now, and where they’re headed next. “This is the most honest version of us,” says Donohue. “It felt right to make it self-titled, because we’ve grown into something new—and we wanted to mark that.” The album follows a strong run of EPs (Cloudburst and Grind) that saw the band evolving through collaboration, improvisation, and reinvention. Tracks often began as live jams—many from their livestream sessions during the pandemic—and grew into fully fleshed-out songs that reflect both discipline and spontaneity. “We didn’t overthink it.
