Join us for an afternoon hike to the tip of Sandy Hook and see New York Harbor like never before! From lightships and the Sandy Hook Pilots to the modern-day Coast Guard, we’ll discuss the history and methods used to make New York Harbor a safe place to travel by water. We will start by climbing the two-story Observation Deck and then we will hike on loose sand to the tip of the Sandy Hook spit. This is a strenuous hike! Tours are first-come, first-served. Rangers guide visitors up the 95 stairs and nine rung ladder to the lantern room. Children must be 48 inches tall to climb the tower. Lighthouse tour sign-ups start at 12:30 PM in the 1883 Keepers’ Quarters.
