You can earn community service credit when you meet with your peers and teen librarian to discuss what you want from your public library's Teen Services Department. Are you caught up in trying to figure out who put those thirteen dead bodies in the basement? Not to mention why and how they ended up there? Or do you prefer a straight-up confrontation of good guys versus bad guys? Who, why, and how form the basis of a mystery. The conflict of good and bad is a thriller. What makes a mystery different from a thriller? And what about tales of suspense? Or action novels? Join local writer Geoff Loftus as he explains how authors use elements of these genres to craft interesting narratives and engaging characters that keep readers turning the page. Along the way, he will offer examples from his own Jack Tyrrell thrillers.About the presenterGeoff Loftus is the author of the Jack Tyrrell thrillers, as well as Double Blind, Engaged to Kill, and The Dark Saint. Geoff’s also a lifelong history buff and the author of Lead Like Ike: Ten Business Strategies from the CEO of D-Day. It includes application strategies, such as the advantages and disadvantages of early decision, early action, and regular decision. Highlighting the factors students should consider when deciding whether to submit standardized test scores for test optional colleges and universities, the presentation includes explanations of the different pathways through which students can be admitted to a particular school.We will also discuss the importance of community service and how it offers opportunities for personal growth and character development. Baby crying and won’t stop fussing, come anyway! We all understand that getting out of the house during the perinatal period is difficult but come anyway! This is time for you to take care of YOU.During the group we will combine brief education about mood and anxiety disorders that can get in the way of enjoying your family forming journey, along with support group time. Simply click "add a seat" and enter the names of each person as necessary during the registration step.Come to the library for some welcoming, focused time meant to give adult day habilitation groups, people living in congregate housing, and all people 18+ who might receive special care at home an opportunity for social interaction and fun games and activities. This will be a relaxed space set aside for people to visit the library and enjoy themselves. We'll have easy to join games such as UNO, Connect Four, Jenga, and more. There'll be coloring sheets and art supplies for enjoyment and self-expression. People will be free to move around and chat with friends or simply sit peacefully with their own preferred activity.This is meant to be a welcoming and inclusive program. Do you have your own favorite game or idea for a fun activity? We would be thrilled if you reach out to the library to discuss how we can better adapt Thursdays Together to serve caregivers and self-advocates.A librarian will be present to help supervise activities but we do ask that all caregivers or aides accompanying a person or group remain in the room during the program.

When graphing calculators were first widely adopted in high schools in the 1990s, debate quickly ensued over questions of whether the technology would aid or undermine the development of mathematic skills. There are parallels in that debate to the promise and peril of AI tools today. Join educator Minoo Bhatia for a thoughtful look at AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity. Through hands-on examples, participants will see both the strengths and weaknesses of agentic large language models in regular tasks and gain a greater appreciation for when AI can prove useful and when it is an unreliable shortcut. Though it is not required to attend this presentation, participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops or electronic devices to follow along with some of the examples and to explore the discussed AI tools during the presentation.About the presenterMinoo Bhatia is the founder of Kamcrest Education which strives to create dialogue, discussion and cultural engagement in the field of education.
