This 60 -minute yang style yoga class focuses on thoughtful sequencing of postures and stretches with slow flow movement. The gentle and accessible movements and stretches focus on the larger muscle groups. The class also includes breathwork and meditation to help center and calm the mind to facilitate the connection of the mind, breath, body, and spirit. All levels are welcome, with a focus on beginners and advanced beginners.  All you need is an open mind, yoga mat, a towel or blanket (to roll for support as needed), and water. Tai Chi at the Norwell Public Library Tai chi has been proven through medical studies to benefit the body in many tangible ways. The slow graceful movements help reduce the risk of falling & ease arthritic joint pain. Incorporating mindful breathing & exercise techniques help to bring a sense of calmness to our minds, enhances our focus and develops a greater sense of self-awareness. Ongoing classes will be held on Tuesday mornings from 11:00 am – 12 :00 noon in the NPL’s Meeting Room. Beginners of all ages & abilities are welcome. Wear loose comfortable clothing. The instructor, Maria Sestina is an RN with a holistic health focus. She is a vitalist, believing in the wisdom of the body & our innate ability to maximize our own health. She is a 500-hour certified tai chi/qigong instructor. Maria has also obtained her certification as a “Magical Beginnings/Enchanted Lives” instructor at Deepak Chopra’s Center of Well Being in La Jolla, California. Registration is required. This Library program is funded by the Friends of the Norwell Public Library. This workshop uses jewelry making as a form of art therapy. The materials used are semi-precious stones and other natural jewelry materials. Semi-precious stones have been appreciated for generations for their unique beauty and healing and grounding properties. Bead Therapy is very interactive and meditative. This workshop will teach the basics of beaded jewelry making and the difference between semi-precious stones and precious stones. Each participant will keep all the pieces they make.  This event is for ages 18 and older. Meet the Instructor Zangar Freeman is a first-generation Liberian-American jewelry artist, educator, and veteran who integrates cultural storytelling and art therapy practices into his beadwork. With a background in social work and a deep appreciation for community connection, he has taught beadwork and expressive arts across the lifespan, working with youth clubs, community centers, senior centers, and schools.
