This event is best for children ages 4-8 and their caregiver. Due to space limitations, we ask that only one caregiver accompany each family. This is not a drop off event, caregiver must stay with child.  Do animals get earaches? Sore throats? Stomach aches? Who helps them if they can’t talk? Meet the author and illustrator of Dr. Rosie Helps the Animals, an award-winning STEM picture book based on and informed by real-world veterinarians. Jennifer, the author, and Rozillia, the illustrator, will first tell the story behind the story of Dr. Rosie and then engage kids in an interactive reading. Following the reading will be a hands-on activity where kids (and their grownups) diagnose and treat a stuffy. Young Writers Program is a 5 WEEK program for aspiring writers in grades 4-6. Children will work with published author Erin Petti to learn about and create their own books. Registration is mandatory and fills up fast! Registration opens Wednesday, January 7th at 9 AM. Registrations are through the website calendar ONLY. We are unable to accept phone calls or emails for registration. This is a 5 WEEK commitment! Young Writers Program runs on Wednesdays from 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm, beginning on January 14th and ending on February 11th. All participants are expected to attend all four weeks. There will be a friends and family showcase at a later date. The advisory board will help plan and implement programs and help shape the future direction of Teen Services at the Library. Attendance at these meetings can be counted towards volunteer hours, but to do so, make sure to fill out our volunteer form on the library website and register.
