Harmony, heart, and timeless hits take center stage as Emerald Coast Theatre Company (ECTC) presents Forever Plaid, a quartet musical, running February 12 through March 1 at its theatre at Grand Boulevard in Miramar Beach. Forever Plaid tells the charming and nostalgic story of four close-harmony singers who get one last chance to perform the show they never got to give after tragically passing away in a car crash. Packed with pitch-perfect harmonies and beloved classics from the 1950s, including “Chain Gang,” “Sixteen Tons,” “Catch a Falling Star,” and more, this heartwarming musical celebrates friendship, dreams, and the enduring power of music. “Forever Plaid celebrates both the golden age of harmony and the kind of music that brings people together,” said Nathanael Fisher, Producing Artistic Director of Emerald Coast Theatre Company. “It’s full of charm, laughter, and beautiful harmonies that remind us why live theatre feels so special.” The production features a talented cast led by Vincent Pelligrino—returning to ECTC after playing Burt in Mary Poppins—as Smudge, Tommy Bergeron—returning to the stage following ECTC’s most recent production, Murder on the Orient Express—as Jinx, Michael Votaw as Sparky, and Jacob Feldstein as Francis. The Okaloosa Board of County Commissioners invites the public to commemorate the completion of 2,000 feet of living shoreline constructed in the Choctawhatchee Bay, with a ceremony at Ross Marler Park on Okaloosa Island on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026, at 8:30 a.m.  This multi-year effort utilized a cost-effective, nature-based solution to mitigate erosion and enhance the ecosystem surrounding nearby Veterans Park and Marler Park. “This unique landscape is home to so many species that we need to protect,“ said Okaloosa County Commissioner Carolyn Ketchel (District 2). “This living shoreline will supplement their success, the health of our bay and extend the life of these wonderful parks.” The installation of this living shoreline is much more cost-effective than traditional shoreline barriers and coincides with the proper intention of these parks for visitors while recognizing the importance of the natural surroundings. “Projects like these involve a team from multiple departments in the County,” said Okaloosa County Vice Chairman Drew Palmer (District 5). “I want to thank the engineers, project managers, coastal scientists and grant specialists who worked together to complete this project and ensure that our shorelines are protected for the future enjoyment of the public.” The living shoreline will also minimize erosion maintenance costs and can even grow the shoreline over time. The project funding consists of $1.5 million in tourism bed tax revenue, a $1.5 million grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and $1.6 million from the RESTORE Council through the Gulf Consortium. “It’s never wrong to be good stewards of the blessings that surround us, and thankfully, this now includes our shoreline,” said Okaloosa County Commissioner Sherri Cox (District 3). Emerald Coast Theatre Company (ECTC) invites the community to a powerful evening of faith, courage, and history with Following the North Star: Women of Faith, a one-woman storytelling experience performed by master storyteller Elizabeth “Liz” Briscoe Wilson, on Wednesday, February 18 at 7 p.m. at ECTC. Through vivid performance and interactive storytelling, Liz Wilson brings to life the extraordinary journeys of Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, and the legacy of her own great-great grandmother, Harriet—women whose unwavering faith guided them through injustice and changed the course of history. Grounded in spiritual conviction and lived experience, this moving presentation honors women who followed faith as their true North Star. “This performance reminds us that faith is not passive, it is courageous, bold, and transformative,” said Anna Fisher, Associate Artistic Director of Emerald Coast Theatre Company. “These women moved forward guided by conviction and courage when the path ahead was unclear. Their stories remind us that inner strength and purpose can change the course of history for the better.” Following the North Star: Women of Faith will be held at Emerald Coast Theatre Company, located at 560 Grand Boulevard, Suite 200, Miramar Beach, FL. ABOUT THE ARTIST  Elizabeth “Liz” Briscoe Wilson is an award-winning educator, librarian, and master storyteller with more than 40 years of experience bringing African American women’s history vividly to life. Born in Salina, Kansas, Liz is a retired Academic Librarian and former Director of Page Library at Lincoln University in Missouri, where she served for 25 years. Since the mid-1980s, Liz has been recognized for her acclaimed one-woman dramatizations portraying historic figures including Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, Ida B. Wells, Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, and The Queen of Sheba. Liz has also volunteered internationally with USAID, teaching computer-based information access in Rwanda, Uganda, and Ghana, and lived abroad as a military spouse in Germany. Her honors include the Martin Luther King Award from Lincoln University and the Zonta Woman of Achievement Award. She holds a Master of Library Science in Education (M.L.S.Ed) from Alabama A&M University and completed advanced doctoral studies at Emporia State University.
