Newport Beach Civic Center Park  Sculpture Exhibition Public Online Poll  Closes December 5! The Phase X public online survey will close on December 5. Help choose the new sculptures that will be installed in Civic Center Park from 2026-2029. Please note that the public online poll is open to Newport Beach residents only. See all the sculpture entries here:  Sculpture Exhibition Phase X Public Online Poll.  The Sculpture Exhibition in Civic Center Park is an integral feature of the Newport Beach Civic Center. Civic Center Park which turned nearly half a million square feet of undeveloped land into a new public park was designed by renowned landscape architectural firm Peter Walker and Partners (PWP).  The City Arts Commission determined that a rotating exhibition in which pieces are loaned for a 3-year period   was an optimal approach to bring sculpture to the City in a cost-efficient manner. In 2013 the Newport Beach City Council authorized the City Arts Commission to implement an inaugural rotational sculpture exhibit in Civic Center Park. Admission is free and the exhibition continues to be enjoyed by residents and guests of all ages and sensibilities. The exhibition has become a “museum without walls” that offers the temporary display of public art in a unique naturalistic setting. Moreover the City is able to exhibit a well-balanced representation of public art with artistic merit durability practicality and site responsiveness as criteria in the selection of work. The rotational nature of the exhibit ensures that residents and guests are exposed to a variety of work.  Selected sculptures will be on loan to the City of Newport Beach for three years. Sculptors whose artworks are chosen for installation in Civic Center Park will receive a small honorarium. The City is responsible for installing the art while artists are responsible for the maintenance and repair of their work. The outdoor exhibition attracts an audience of all ages including schoolchildren the local community and visitors from Southern California and beyond.

  The Newport Beach City Arts Commission presents: Hugo Zhang (Photography) Exhibiting December 15 2025 through February 6 2026  The City of Newport Beach maintains exhibit space at the Central Library   1000 Avocado Avenue. The Library was completed in 1994 and now averages 3 000 daily visitors. The Lobby Gallery in the Central Library has approximately 38 feet of linear wall space designed for  two-dimensional pieces of art. Additionally   two display cabinets were added to the lobby of Central Library in 2010. Artists may now apply to exhibit three-dimensional works for this exhibition space. The display cases are approximately 24” high x 24” deep x 24” wide All gallery spaces are administered by the Library Services Manager. The City Arts Commission’s Fine Arts Committee meets periodically to review artist's submissions and artists will be notified by mail of acceptance. Art exhibitions are scheduled for at least one year in advance for all exhibit locations. Regional artists are encouraged to submit exhibition proposals. Upon acceptance exhibiting artists must agree to the conditions and requirements detailed in the  City Policy 1-11. Newport Beach Civic Center and City recreation and community centers will be closed from Wednesday, December 24, 2025 through Sunday, January 4, 2026. All facilities will reopen on Monday, January 5, 2026. Police, Fire and other select City departments will remain open during this time period. Newport Beach Public Libraries - City libraries will be closed on December 25 and January 1. Library Services will have limited operating hours on the following dates: , Wednesday, December 24 &, Wednesday, December 31: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Monday, December 22 &, Tuesday, December 23: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday, December 29 &, Tuesday, December 30: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Residential Trash Collection - The Christmas and New Year's Day holidays fall on Thursdays, therefore collection for the remainder of the week will be postponed by one day. Use this handy guide to recycle right! Christmas Tree Collection - Christmas trees should be placed next to your waste carts or in your organics cart on the same day as your collection schedule. When possible, please remove lights, tinsel, ornaments and stands. Trees should be six feet or less, which might require you to cut your tree. If placing the tree in the organics cart, please ensure the tree is not flocked and placed bottom first and upright. CR&,R will be using a separate truck to collect the trees beginning December 26. Please note, flocked trees (with fake snow) must be placed in the black-top trash cart or treated as a bulky-item pickup. These trees cannot be recycled given the chemicals used to create the flocking. Residents who miss the tree collection period can use the bulky item service.
