For more than a decade, WMQFA has been the exclusive Midwest host for this celebrated exhibition, which premieres at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum before traveling internationally. This exhibit features the most extraordinary and innovatiive works from the bieannial competition of the Japanese Hanicraft Instructor's Associaton (JHIA). JHIA sponsors the largest international quilt contest in Japan and one of the most prestigious in the world. This year's Quilt Nihon exhibition features award-winning and notable works, including entries from the competition's newest category, miniature quilts.  The WMQFA is one of only four venues in the US that hosts this exhibit and run December 10, 2025-March 8, 2026.

In this exhibition Kaneiss’ artwork spans from the 1960s through the late 1980s and ranges from newspaper illustration to deeply personal abstract painting. Thanks to a generous 2025 gift from the late artist’s family, the Cedarburg Art Museum is proud to present several dozen works that reflect both Kaneiss’ 37-year career as an illustrator for the Milwaukee Journal and Sentinel newspapers and his independent explorations of color, shape, and form through painting. Together, these works offer a rich view of an artist who balanced professional storytelling with personal experimentation.

Shelby had a deep love for art and for life, and this program celebrates her spirit by encouraging creativity and recognizing artistic achievement among students. This exhibition features artwork by students in grades K–12 from across Ozaukee County and represents the Cedarburg Art Museum’s largest student exhibition to date. Through the continued support of Mel’s Charities, student artwork is suitably installed in frames or mounted on pedestals, allowing student artists to see their creations presented in a museum setting. Bowl for Kids’ Sake is a fun way to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ozaukee County’s youth mentoring programs. This year the event will be held three Friday evenings in March. Our bowling event has become an annual tradition for community businesses, service organizations, and residents. Over 300 participants and volunteers come together each year to make a difference in a child’s life. Bowl for Kids’ Sake is much more than bowling – it’s about giving back to the community and helping area children reach their potential.   Where Is It held? Harbor Hills Recreation Center in Port Washington   When Is It? March 6 – Prime Minister Family Restaurant     March 13 – Messina’s Restaurant & Lounge March 20 – Highland House   6:30 PM Dinner, 7:15 PM Bowling                How Does It Work? Rare Wisconsin Plants Talk Focus What do Putty Root, Kitten Tails, and Yerba-de-tajo have in common? They are all listed on the Wisconsin Natural Heritage Inventory (NHI) Working List which comprises species known or suspected to be rare in the state, along with natural communities and geological features native to Wisconsin. Should we be concerned about rare plants in Wisconsin? Join Kevin Doyle, a prominent botanist with the Wisconsin DNR who is working within the Bureau of Natural Heritage Conservation, to learn about these plants, where they can be found, and why we should care about them. Along the way, Doyle will dig into rare plant ecology, biology, distribution, and what the DNR is doing to protect them. We’ll also see examples of how amateur plant enthusiasts can get involved in rare plant conservation throughout Wisconsin. “Wisconsin Rare Plant ID & Monitoring Program” sponsored by Ozaukee Master Gardeners, will be held on Thursday, February 26 at 7:00 pm via Zoom. Richard Kaneiss Illustration to Abstraction January 17 – April 26, 2026 Gallery Talk: Saturday, January 17 at 1pm This exhibition highlights the artwork of the late Richard Kaneiss who was a Cedarburg resident for 33 years. In this exhibition Kaneiss’ artwork spans from the 1960s through the late 1980s and ranges from newspaper illustration to deeply personal abstract painting. Thanks to a generous 2025 gift from the late artist’s family, the Cedarburg Art Museum is proud to present several dozen works that reflect both Kaneiss’ 37-year career as an illustrator for the Milwaukee Journal and Sentinel newspapers and his independent explorations of color, shape, and form through painting. Together, these works offer a rich view of an artist who balanced professional storytelling with personal experimentation.

Student Art Matters (SAM) is an biennial exhibition honoring the life and legacy of Shelby Austin, a Cedarburg High School student whose life was tragically cut short in a car accident in 2001. Shelby had a deep love for art and for life, and this program celebrates her spirit by encouraging creativity and recognizing artistic achievement among students. This exhibition features artwork by students in grades K–12 from across Ozaukee County and represents the Cedarburg Art Museum’s largest student exhibition to date. Through the continued support of Mel’s Charities, student artwork is suitably installed in frames or mounted on pedestals, allowing student artists to see their creations presented in a museum setting. Bowl for Kids’ Sake is a fun way to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ozaukee County’s youth mentoring programs. This year the event will be held three Friday evenings in March. Our bowling event has become an annual tradition for community businesses, service organizations, and residents. Over 300 participants and volunteers come together each year to make a difference in a child’s life. Bowl for Kids’ Sake is much more than bowling – it’s about giving back to the community and helping area children reach their potential.   Where Is It held? Harbor Hills Recreation Center in Port Washington   When Is It? March 6 – Prime Minister Family Restaurant     March 13 – Messina’s Restaurant & Lounge March 20 – Highland House   6:30 PM Dinner, 7:15 PM Bowling                How Does It Work? Invite four to five family members, friends, or co-workers to join your team. Begin raising pledges of $100 per bowler.
