  Intro to Stained Glass Art $160.00 This 5-week class will introduce the tools and techniques of stained glass construction. Students will learn the Tiffany method, (the copper foil method), to create one or more projects that showcase the beauty of stained glass. Designs can be supplied, or students may wish to consult with the instructor about creating their own. Students who have no experience with stained glass are welcome, as well as students who have experience but wish to build upon that foundation. All supplies and materials for this class are included with registration. This class is open to those age 14 and older.   Intro to Stained Glass Art $160.00 This 5-week class will introduce the tools and techniques of stained glass construction. Students will learn the Tiffany method, (the copper foil method), to create one or more projects that showcase the beauty of stained glass. Designs can be supplied, or students may wish to consult with the instructor about creating their own. Students who have no experience with stained glass are welcome, as well as students who have experience but wish to build upon that foundation. All supplies and materials for this class are included with registration. This class is open to those age 14 and older. Session 1: Wednesdays, March 25-April 22, 6-8 p.m. Session 2: Wednesdays, April 29-May 27, 6-8 p.m. Cost: $160 (price includes all supplies) (PAC members receive 20% discount).

Photography during the Civil War The American Civil War prompted photographers to take their cameras out of their studios in an effort to capture images of the war. The results changed perceptions of war and was a catalyst for an explosion of technology that would continue for decades. Paramount to the story of Civil War photography is the story of Mathew Brady. His photographs of Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War have become icons of the early days of photography. Just as important were the technological advances Brady made to the art form. Hear the story of Brady’s rise from obscurity to become an international phenomenon and why his efforts impact photography to this day. Mark Holbrook has been a member of the Ohio Humanities Speakers Bureau for sixteen years. He served as the marketing director at the Ohio History Connection for nine years where he also served as Civil War Historian. He has been a consultant for tourism and history-based organizations for 20 years. Mark is a native Ohioan, graduate of The Ohio State University and an avid student of history. He also is the owner of History is Personal, a consulting firm that specializes in tourism and heritage destination development. This event is sponsored by the Washington County Public Library and is FREE and open to the public.
