June is National Women’s Fly Fishing Month, with June 27 designated as National Women’s Fly Fishing Day. This year, we’re thrilled to celebrate women of all identities with the Roslyn Riffle, a DIY fishing weekend hosted by Crow Creek Fly Shop, iFishiBelong, and United Women on the Fly. This event highlights women leading, teaching, and inspiring on and off the water. Workshops are led by women experts, the event is hosted by women, and it’s supported by Washington State’s only women-owned fly shop. Join us for a weekend of learning, fishing, and community. The inaugural Roslyn Riffle DIY Fishing Weekend is a flexible DIY event with social fishing, educational sessions, and group gatherings to connect, learn, and share stories. Travel, lodging, and meals are on you, but resources are provided for all budgets.     A DIY (Do It Yourself) Fishing Event means participants take an active role in planning and preparing for their fishing experience. iFishiBelong and our event co-hosts provide curated resources, local information, and essential guidance, but it is each angler’s responsibility to review all event emails, explore the website, and prepare in advance. These events are non-guided, so anglers are responsible for their own logistics, fishing plans, and on-the-water decisions.   The City of Ellensburg, in partnership with Kittitas County America 250 celebrations, invites residents, families, and visitors to join a special Community Picnic celebrating America 250 on Saturday, July 4, 2026, from 2-6 p.m. at Unity Park, located at 4th Ave. and Pearl St.    The free event will bring the community together to honor America’s 250th anniversary through an afternoon of live music, art, yard games, and family-friendly fun. The celebration will begin with welcoming remarks and the presentation of the colors by the Yakama Warriors at 2:30 p.m. Live music will start at 2:45 p.m. with HornVibes, a two-person collaboration that explores an eclectic variety of musical styles using jazz standards. Roadfever, a classic rock cover band, will take the stage at 4 p.m.    The event is open to all ages, and everyone is welcome to attend. Participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and picnics (food not provided) to make the most of the afternoon. Yard games will be provided by the Ellensburg Downtown Association.    “America 250 is a historic milestone, and we are excited to gather as a community to commemorate the occasion,” City Manager Heidi Behrends Cerniwey said. “We encourage everyone to bring a picnic, connect with friends and neighbors, and enjoy a festive Independence Day celebration.”    There will be no fireworks at the event, however, everyone is encouraged to join the City of Cle Elum in their Pioneer Day celebration and evening fireworks show.
