Washington employers, this one matters. Washington Saves is a new state-facilitated retirement savings program expected to launch in 2027. It’s designed as a simple, no-fee way to help employees save for retirement through automatic payroll deductions into an IRA. During this session, we’ll cover: • What Washington Saves is and how it works • Which employers are required to participate • Key requirements under state law • How automatic enrollment works for employees 18+ • What “no employer fees, no employer contributions, and no fiduciary responsibility” really means • Important updates related to Secure 2.0 and retirement plan legislation Under current law, employers may be required to participate if they: • Have operated in Washington for 2+ years • Have a physical presence in the state • Employ 10,400+ hours per year collectively, roughly equal to 5 full-time employees • Do not currently offer a qualified retirement plan We’ll also discuss why this matters beyond compliance. Studies show employees are significantly more likely to save when payroll deduction is available, and businesses offering retirement benefits often see stronger retention. 🍴 Lunch will be provided by Avenue Catering. 📅 Please register by Monday, March 23 at noon so we can provide our caterer with an accurate headcount. Her career has been dedicated to serving the community, providing financial guidance to individuals, families, and local businesses. As a financial advisor with Edward Jones, Kari draws on extensive experience in lending, retail banking, and savings to support clients in pursuing their long‑term objectives. She is committed to understanding each client’s goals, priorities, and risk tolerance to help establish a clear and balanced path toward their financial future. Jeff Hunkins is a retirement plan counselor at Capital Group, home of American Funds, responsible for sales development and relationship management in Alaska, Oregon and Washington. He has 23 years of investment industry experience and has been with Capital Group for 13 years. Prior to joining Capital, Jeff worked as a pension consultant for The Standard in Portland, Ore. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and finance from Portland State University. Jeff is based in Seattle. Kurt Oswell is a seasoned pension plan consultant with Farmer & Betts Pension Consultants since 2006. He specializes in fee-based pension administration and consulting, working closely with financial advisors and accountants throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Renowned for his ability to simplify complex topics and deliver successful outcomes, Kurt brings dedication and clarity to every partnership. A longtime Seattle resident with a passion for outdoor adventures and gardening, Kurt also finds joy in supporting his daughters' academic pursuits.

Over seven weeks, the evidence-based Strengthening Families Program 10-14 helps bring them out by: Improving communication Encouraging healthy habits for youth Providing tools for parenting teens Making memories & having fun together After a shared meal, parents and youth meet separately for one hour with certified program facilitators about that week’s topic. Then families meet together for an hour to practice what they learned and take part in fun activities! Spanish: ¡Todas las familias pueden beneficiarse de aprender más maneras de como navegar los primeros años de la adolescencia con éxito! El programa de Fortaleciendo Familias (SFP) ayuda tanto a los padres como a los jóvenes de 10 a 14 años con habilidades de comunicación, manejo del estrés y encontrar maneras de conectarse. Después de una comida compartida, padres y jóvenes se reúnen por separado durante una hora con facilitadores certificados del programa para tratar el tema de la semana.
