  The 2026 Spring Art of Jazz series continues March 29 featuring pianist/composer Nelda Swiggett at the Firehouse Arts and Events Center from 4-6 pm with a stellar backing band of Clif Swiggett trombone, Chris Symer bass, Adam Kessler drums and Kate Olson saxophone and flute. “For the Birds” features the original music of award-winning Seattle pianist and composer Nelda Swiggett. But this is not just a concert. The performance engages the power of artistic expression — live music, spoken words, images and poetry — to connect audiences emotionally to the scientific realities of climate change through the lens of birds. Ultimately a story of hope, audiences leave the performance feeling empowered to take meaningful action. Out of the Ashes, VFW Post 3-5 pm

Out of the Ashes performs every Tuesday from 3-5 pm at the VFW Post on N. State Street, Bellingham.  Donations to the band help fund scholarships, professional services, and equipment and gear repair and replacement for participants.
