Lichens are harmless to your plants and add aesthetic value to your garden. Learn about common lichens found in an urban environment and what they tell us about air quality, forest health, geology and why they are indicators of changes in the climate, ecosystems, and geology. You will leave with a fresh understanding about lichens and a user-friendly chart that lists lichens found in your neighborhood. Learn more about the birds at the Bellevue Botanical Garden. Join Eastside Audubon for a monthly walk that explores the birds and their habitat in the Garden. This one-mile walk will be on trails with various surfaces and may include gravel, mulch, or pavement. Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes. Parking in the lot is free. From the parking lot enter the garden through the breezeway and turn left. Meet your guide in the covered Gathering Place. This walk is for any level of birder and no experience is necessary. Bring binoculars if you have them. There will be some available to loan for the walk. Each walk is $5 per person. Registration is required. Sorry, this class is full. This three-session class is taught by Ray Pfortner. Celebrate the surge of new life in the Garden. Many would argue that spring is the finest season for taking outdoor photographs. The spring palette includes soft luminescent greens and pastels in contrast with the remains of winter. Explore the angle and color of the sun, animals that are active, and waterways running full. All skill levels using any camera, smart phone to mirrorless, are welcome. All you need is a passion for photography. Classes 1 and 3 will be on Zoom, and class 2 will be in person at the Bellevue Botanical Garden.  $80.50 BBGS Member/$115 Non-Member. This beginner friendly class, using mind-body connection and breath, will take you through a series of exercises with an emphasis on technique and fluidity. We will focus on those areas most stressed during gardening by using your core to power the muscles, increasing your energy and endurance. All levels welcome. Design and create your own miniature fairy house and garden! This workshop, led by Michelle Dupar, is great for children 6 and older and their families. Participants will use natural and recycled materials to create and decorate a one-of-a-kind miniature fairy house and garden to take home and enjoy. All supplies are included! Children 6-11 must be accompanied by an adult. Adult chaperones are free. Adult chaperones will not make a fairy garden. Adults who want to make a garden need to register themselves. Youth 12-18 years can attend by themselves with a completed waiver form.
