The historic mansion grounds at Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park serve as the backdrop for the story of the three families that had a significant role in land conservation and stewardship in America.  This approximately one and one-half hour program will traverse the park’s historic grounds and includes stops at the Mansion, Belvedere and Bungalow.  It will also proceed through some hidden spaces that are not included with other tours of the park including the Mansion’s back of the house areas and the cold war area Fallout Shelter.The walk will travel approximately 3/4 mile/1.2 km with elevation changes of approximately 60 ft/18.5 m. Advanced reservations are highly recommended. Visit Recreation.gov to schedule a tour or program in advance.

Join Artist-in-Residence Allyson Cook on a one-mile hike where you will get a chance to mimic her artistic practice.Allyson and Ranger Jen will lead visitors on a moderate one-mile hike through the forest making pit stops along the way to observe and identify various plants and animals. Participants will find something different to draw at each pit stop slowly creating one cohesive image that may end up a bit surreal! The hike will conclude in the Formal Gardens where participants are invited to stay to finish their piece. Beginners and experienced artists of all ages are welcome!Art supplies (colored pencils paper and clipboards) will be provided. Bring a snack and plenty of water.Wear comfortable layers and comfortable walking shoes.Program will include periods of hiking interspersed with standing and seated activities. You may wish to bring a portable chair blanket or cushion to sit on during stops. Trail has some sections of steep grade total elevation gain is approximately 350ft. In the event of inclement weather the program will be conducted inside the Forest Center.Advanced registration is required.
