All entries must be delivered to the Chaffee Art Center on either Wednesday, Dec. 3 (3–5pm), OR Thursday, Dec. 4 (10am–12pm), or by appointment. The gingerbread creations will be on display in our historic 1890’s mansion from the Gingerbread Showcase Reception on Dec. 6, 12–2pm until Jan. 3. Theme: “heART-ful”. Awards in a variety of categories for People’s Choice!  Happy Baking! Rules/Guidelines: FREE Entry. Registration is not required but is appreciated. Must be made from Gingerbread. NO KITS PERMITTED. Designs may be 2D or 3D. Open to all ages, individuals, and groups. Awards will be announced in a variety of categories for People’s Choice. Entries major components must be made of gingerbread. The rest of the display can be constructed and decorated with edible material. Strong Towns Conversation at The Hub Strong Towns is an organization that advocates for the improvement of our cities and towns through meaningful, evidence-based, and financially-sound actions. At the core of this effort is the following approach: 1. Humbly observe where people in the community struggle. 2. Ask the question: What is the next smallest thing we can do right now to address that struggle? 3. Do that thing. Do it right now. 4. Repeat. To assist cites and towns in working through this process, they have developed a number of tools, information resources, and a support network of grassroots groups who are done waiting for someone else to make their town better. It’s time to get more people in the Rutland area engaged in this sort of mentality. Join us as we work our way through the free Strong Towns 101 course material. We’ll have time to watch the recordings, get to know our neighbors, and brainstorm how we can start building a Strong Towns base here in the Rutland area. Join us for a special event on Thursday, December 11th, from 5-8 pm that brings Downtown Rutland, Vermont, businesses together with beverage and food producers, artists, and activities! You'll have the opportunity to visit almost 30 stops where you can shop, enjoy sales and raffles, sample new food and drinks, catch up with friends, and enjoy the holiday season together. Participants are encouraged to wear festive attire and ugly sweaters – photos will be posted on our social for a People's Choice winner of a special prize! Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to get updates on this event and other Downtown Rutland Partnership activities. Tickets will be available to purchase online or at the event check-in location. Attendees will check in at the Downtown Rutland Partnership's office at 28 Center Street or Streetside Conference Center at 67 Merchants Row. There, you will receive a map and a tasting glass. After that, you can visit all the participating locations at your own pace. Please remember: Tickets that include alcohol are only available for individuals aged 21 and older. Each attendee must bring a photo ID to the check-in table as proof of age. If you have any questions, please send an email to [email protected]. The proceeds from ticket sales benefit the Downtown Rutland Partnership, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to managing, marketing, and maintaining the Downtown District in Rutland, Vermont.
