OQUIRRH ELEMENTARY PARENT NIGHT: HELPING OUR CHILDREN MANAGE ANXIETY, THURSDAY, DECEMBER 11, 6–7 PM, OQUIRRH MEDIA CENTER • Parenting can be especially challenging in today’s world, but never have the social sciences had more knowledge and strategies to meet those challenges. At our parent night, we will share ideas of how to help our children manage anxiety in positive ways. Sometimes it is in the small and simple things we do as parents that can make the biggest differences. • Bring your questions, and we will help provide some coping strategies, along with resources that are free and available to parents in Jordan School District. We will discuss common sources of child anxiety including: School Anxiety, Academic Challenges, Peer Challenges, Behavior Issues, Self-harm, Gaming and Media Addiction, Oppositional Defiance. • Our school Counselor, Vicki Robinson, LCSW, will lead our discussion. We will also have our Jordan School District Attendance Specialist share information about helping students who are not attending regularly due to school anxiety. • Childcare will be provided. Student activities will be held in the wellness room. Refreshments will be provided.
