At Spring Fling, Gulf Coast Bird Observatory volunteers and staff provide local birding information, bird checklists, sell snacks, post the daily bird list on the white board, and help identify birds for novice birders.

Who’s Who Golf Classic – May 8, 2026 – Wilderness – 7:00 AM & 1:30 PM shotgun starts Brazoria County’s Premier Golf Event. It is typically our largest fundraiser with a full morning & afternoon flight.  Industry leaders are auctioned off to play on teams. Lunch served for both flights.  Committee volunteers would help solicit teams, hole sponsors, goody bag sponsors and contributors.  They would also help with soliciting door prizes and silent auction items.  The evening before 5-10 volunteers are needed to stuff goodie bags and organize raffle items. The day of the event 15-20 volunteers are needed on the course, at check out, to help with drawings, raffle sales, etc.  Friday, May 8, 2026 7:30 AM/1:30 PM.  See link for details. https://brazoriacounty.ja.org/events/index

The banding station is an excellent opportunity to see birds up close and to learn about birds that live or migrate through the Brazosport Area. Watch volunteers collect baseline data on bird populations at the sanctuary.
