Be part of the statewide effort to clean Texas beaches at the Texas General Land Office’s Fall Adopt-A-Beach Cleanup event on September 17 2022. Galveston Bay Foundation, in partnership with Port Houston, is hosting a cleanup site at Morgan’s Point from 9am to 1pm. Galveston Bay Foundation’s Rain Barrel Program works in partnership with LyondellBasell and Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages to conserve water and reduce stormwater runoff, pollution, and bacteria entering Galveston Bay. This workshop will consist of a supply pickup, presentation, and Q&A session with Galveston Bay Foundation staff on site. The presentation will discuss the environmental benefits of collecting rainwater, as well as proper rain barrel preparation, installation instructions and tips.Participants must pre-register to reserve a barrel. A virtual presentation option is available upon request. Cost for the event is $35 which includes 1 barrel plus 1 connection kit and admission to the workshop for you and a guest. Experience the most scenic bike ride along the Upper Texas Coast while raising critical funds to help ensure Galveston Bay is protected and preserved for generations to come! Join us on October 22-23 for this year’s Bike Around the Bay event. Riders are given the option to participate in the full Bike Around the Bay two-day route from Baytown to Galveston and back or can select to ride one day. Additionally, riders can choose to participate in Bike Around the Island, a separate one-day ride on Galveston Island that starts and ends at Moody Gardens and will take place on the Saturday of Bike Around the Bay weekend.
