On May 18, 2024, from 1pm to 2pm, Fort Worth Police Officer Barry Sawyer will be making a bicycle and crosswalk safety presentation intended for elementary aged children at Chisholm Ridge Elementary School. (Located at 8301 Running River Lane Fort Worth, Texas 76131). There is no cost for this presentation. The event will take place in the school parking lot.The presentation will cover crosswalk crossing safety, proper helmet usage, and how to maneuver safely with a bike when crossing the street. It will also cover proper bike hand signals, explanation of street signs and other safety-related topics. Participants will be able to ask questions and are encouraged to bring their own bicycles and helmets so that they can be inspected for proper fit and usage. Those without helmets or even those without a bicycle, based on availability and supply, will have the opportunity to have a helmet and/or a bike provided to the student without cost. Officer Sawyer requests that any student needing a bicycle contact him by email at [email protected] by May 3rd with the request for bike along with the student's gender and height. Please include if training wheels are needed. Remember that supplies are limited.
