Most devastatingly of all, a beloved little bookworm has been turned into a fire-breathing, book-burning Book Wyrm!Climb the library tower, use the catalog, online databases, search the stacks, and ask librarians questions to complete puzzles and find the clues to break the spell.This program is a series of puzzles and challenges located on each floor of the library, come as a solo adventurer or bring your adventuring party! The quest is available any time during library open hours and may take around 30 minutes to complete.Begin your quest on the first floor of the library â donât forget to grab your sword, you may need it!

These events will be available to all patrons, and welcoming to all D&D skill levels. Players are invited to create their own character (level 5), or use one of our premade characters (available at the meeting). The games will be a series of continuous adventures, but players are welcome to join at any time and don't need to worry about having missed previous games.When: Every Thursday from 3pm to 5:30pmWhere: Central Library - 6th floor - Classroom AHow: Register online to reserve a spot for the game. The course of true love never did run smooth,â says Lysander, one of four star-crossed lovers in A Midsummer Nightâs Dream. But are love and death really the only options? The tragic fates of some of Shakespeareâs most famous heroines, including Juliet (Romeo and Juliet) and Ophelia (Hamlet) often reflect the limited outcomes for young women in Shakespeareâs England. So perhaps we should not be surprised that so many works of popular culture (& Juliet, Taylor Swiftâs âThe Fate of Opheliaâ) reimagine different endings for these characters.Dr. Amanda Atkinson will explore family life and courtship in Shakespeareâs England, and then examine some of the various ways that artists over the years have re-written the fates of Shakespeareâs heroines, imagining the lives they never got to live.Also, in honor of the real-life Juliet Club, which "has been handling Julietâs mail for many years" and their book "Dear Juliet: Letters from the Lovestruck and Lovelorn to Shakespeare's Juliet in Verona," as well as the film Letters to Juliet, in-person attendees of this talk will be provided free postcards on which they can write their own "letters to Juliet."Postage will not be provided.---------------------------------------------------------------Amanda Atkinson is a Visiting Lecturer in the TCU English Department as well as an adjunct instructor in the MLA program. After earning her M.Ed from Texas State in 2008, she spent years teaching high school and community college English in Fort Worth. In 2022 she earned her PhD in English Literature from SMU, specializing in the literature and culture of the English Renaissance and Enlightenment periods. Her research and publications examine the intersections of literature, science, and religion with a focus on learning and error.Dallas Public Library programs are free and open to the public. The U.S. covers over 3.5 million square miles and boasts a diverse and extensive range of ecosystems from the mountains to the prairies, to the oceans. Within these areas, there are between 428 and 490 species of mammals.Texas covers over 268,000 square miles and our state is generally divided into 10 natural regions or ecoregions from the Piney Woods to the Gulf Prairies and marshes. Itâs big, and each region boasts amazing local flora and fauna.What about the cities such as Dallas, the ninth largest in the U.S. and 3rd largest in Texas. How does the urban landscape affect the ecosystems and the local mammals?
