Players are invited to create their own character (level 5), or use one of our premade characters (available at the meeting). Digging into city archives, artist Brad Ford Smith researched true stories of mayhem, murder, and calamity in Dallas and hit the streets to document those locations with his signature sepia toned ink drawings. In 2025 these stories and drawings were published as the book Where To Find A Ghost and Other True Stories.Brad uses historic archives and old city maps to find forgotten stories of local misfortune. Once he locates a particularly intriguing story, he documents their present day appearance in small ink drawings. He notes that these are often places we pass by daily without ever realizing that a plane crashed here or a car exploded there, or a man was pushed from a roof. These simple, quiet drawings capture single moments of the past and pull them forward for us to see and reflect upon.Opening in October, the original drawings from the book as well as some new drawings/stories will be on view at the Kenneth B. Jonsson Gallery on the 7th floor of the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library October 1, 2026, through March 31, 2027.---------------------------------------------------------------EXHIBITION WALK THROUGH WITH ARTISTInto the Archives: Where To Find A Ghost with Artist Brad Ford SmithOctober 17, 2026 at 2pmRight in time for Halloween, join artist Brad Ford Smith for this exhibition walk through where he will talk about how old newspaper headlines lead him to draw local sites of forgotten tragedy and inspired his latest book Where To Find A Ghost.---------------------------------------------------------------Brad Ford Smithâs artwork is represented at Ro2 Art Gallery. His first two books of drawings and histories Where To Find A Ghost and Traces was published by K. Co. Press in 2025. This year he retired from 30 years working as an art conservator, closing the doors of his company, Studio Six Art Conservation. He now explores the process of drawing and seeing with his students at the Creative Arts Center. Heâs also leading Tai Chi Flow classes at the Samuell Grand Recreational Center. His next art project will either focus on an abandoned zoo in Cisco, Texas or the abandoned WWII ammunitions plant in East Texas now a superfund site/state park.
