\ \ \ \ \ Creative Arts Society is an Austin-based, non-profit 501(c)(3) arts organization actively promoting the development of the “Artist in Everyone.” Established in 1999, the vision of this group is to inspire cultural enrichment, community participation, and respect for diversity. Three member artists are featured in this exhibit: Gena Destri Gena Destri is an award-winning contemporary impressionist. She blends realism with emotion, working across various media and focusing primarily on landscapes. Inspired by outdoor living and regenerative values, she aims to evoke wonder and inspire others, while also engaging her community through teaching, workshops, and retreats. You can find her online. Martha Kull After a career in engineering, Martha Kull shifted to visual art, creating memory- and travel-inspired works using paint, pen, pencil, and collage. She regularly exhibits across Central Texas and curates art shows for groups like JGallery and the Creative Arts Society. Find her on Facebook or Instagram. Joyce LaBaw Joyce LaBaw paints bold acrylic landscapes and abstracts inspired by nature, following a long career in mechanical engineering. Her work has been widely exhibited in Austin, and she serves on the Creative Arts Society board while also supporting Community First! Village Art House. \ \ \ \ \ “中文游乐园-Chinese Learning Playground” is a Mandarin Chinese study group for school-age children. This program is led by volunteer native-Chinese-speaking parents, and teaches Chinese through an immersive setting to two tiers of learners — Advanced and Junior. The Advanced group meets from 2:30 to 3:30pm, and is suitable for students already fluent in basic reading in Chinese. This school year, we are following the 6th-grade textbook 《中文》from Heritage Chinese. The Junior group meets from 3:30pm to 4:30pm, and typically hosts kids in elementary grades. This school year, we have started the 3rd-grade textbook 《中文》from Heritage Chinese. The lessons sometimes incorporate games, crafts, and puzzles to keep the learning fun and engaging. 中文游乐园-Chinese learning playground is currently organized by three volunteer parents: Xiaoqing Zhu, a research scientist working on video coding and streaming, who loves to recite Chinese poetry along with her daughter. Nan Jiang, a Ph.D. from UT Austin and the Data Science Practice Lead at her firm, has always been passionate about helping people, especially her kids, to understand and appreciate the rich Chinese culture and history, including its difficult-to-learn but fascinating language. Qiong Zeng, a data scientist on health fitness, mobile games and automobiles, has two daughters and enjoys teaching kids Chinese and about Chinese culture. Our weekly sessions are taught in rotation by a small group of like-minded parent volunteers.

Cushion or pillow recommended. Kristi is the senior youth selector at Westbank Libraries and a certified 200-RYT. Yoga helped her get on the path of healing her body, mind, and spirit. She loves the way connecting breath with intention, postures and meditation can help everybody find their spiritual truth. Kristi is a voracious reader and believes books can change the world. She has a degree in Liberal Arts and master’s degrees in Library Science and Legislative Affairs.

\ \ \ \ \ “中文游乐园-Chinese Learning Playground” is a Mandarin Chinese study group for school-age children. This program is led by volunteer native-Chinese-speaking parents, and teaches Chinese through an immersive setting to two tiers of learners — Advanced and Junior. The Advanced group meets from 2:30 to 3:30pm, and is suitable for students already fluent in basic reading in Chinese. This school year, we are following the 6th-grade textbook 《中文》from Heritage Chinese. The Junior group meets from 3:30pm to 4:30pm, and typically hosts kids in elementary grades. This school year, we have started the 3rd-grade textbook 《中文》from Heritage Chinese. The lessons sometimes incorporate games, crafts, and puzzles to keep the learning fun and engaging. 中文游乐园-Chinese learning playground is currently organized by three volunteer parents: Xiaoqing Zhu, a research scientist working on video coding and streaming, who loves to recite Chinese poetry along with her daughter. Nan Jiang, a Ph.D. from UT Austin and the Data Science Practice Lead at her firm, has always been passionate about helping people, especially her kids, to understand and appreciate the rich Chinese culture and history, including its difficult-to-learn but fascinating language. Qiong Zeng, a data scientist on health fitness, mobile games and automobiles, has two daughters and enjoys teaching kids Chinese and about Chinese culture. Our weekly sessions are taught in rotation by a small group of like-minded parent volunteers.
