Under his leadership, Arlington’s Office of Communication has earned more than 100 state and national awards for excellence in branding, video production, social media, website design, and marketing. He was named the 2023 Communicator of the Year by the national 3CMA organization and 2024 Communicator of Distinction by the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TAMIO). Before entering public service, Jay spent two decades in broadcast news, earning the Walter Cronkite Award for Individual Achievement, a national Peabody Award, and recognition as Associated Press Reporter of the Year. Jay is a past president of TAMIO and the Arlington Museum of Art, and currently serves as Treasurer of the 3CMA Board, on the Texas Municipal Retirement System Advisory Board, and as a board member for TCU’s Certified Communicator Program. For a quarter of a century, our mission has remained the same: to provide critical assistance and empower our neighbors to move toward stability and self-sufficiency.At the core of our work is direct financial assistance, helping prevent utility shut offs and evictions so families can remain safe in their homes. Each year, hundreds of households turn to AUM during times of crisis, and we are committed to responding with both urgency and care. Beyond immediate relief, we believe in equipping individuals with the tools they need for lasting change.
