HOSA - future health professionals Advisor: Mr. Parnell bryant.parnell@beaufort.k12.sc.usHOSA, a non-profit, student-led organization of Future Health Professionals, is the largest international organization operating in schools for students enrolled in health science and biomedical sciences programs and serving those interested in pursuit of career in health and biomedical professions. HOSA’s purpose is to develop leadership and technical competencies through a program of motivation, awareness and recognition, which is an integral part of the instructional program. This student-led organization provides opportunities for students to practice and refine their academics, technical, leadership and teamwork skills to achieve seamless transition from classroom to career. HOSA helps members set realistic career and educational goals, develop workplace readiness skills, understand current healthcare issues, develop effective leadership qualities and skills, network with healthcare professionals, participate in community service activities, build self-confidence, motivation and enthusiasm, celebrate accomplishments. Competitive events program include state and national recognition for individual and team achievement. 50 competitive events and 7 recognition events in 6 categories aligned to the National Healthcare Foundation Standards, essential knowledge and skill development directly related to healthcare curriculum, curriculum component of health science education programs. Membership Requirements: Any student who is or has been enrolled in any CATE health science or sports medicine class can join. Dues are $35 for the year to help cover state and national dues and shirt, additional fees may apply for conference attendance. Must attend meetings to attend annual conference

To make them college and career ready, they’ll have exclusive access to robust tools and resources. It is more than an honor roll. It is a multifaceted learning experience that provides a springboard to lifelong success. Membership Requirements: Students in grades 11+12 who meet the requirements for membership outlined by their school’s chapter are eligible to be invited for membership. Expectations are that we will organize a service project for the fall semester, and individuals will complete 50 hours of community service during the year, including summer. Participation in the fall will enable seniors to list NHS on college applications and receive recognition at graduation. Juniors will be eligible for induction in the fall if they have a 3.9 on a weighted scale, no referrals, and completed at least ten hours of community service since freshman year.

NAHS strives to aid members in attaining the highest standards in art scholarship, character, and service, and to bring art to the attention of the school and community. Do you want to convince your parents that you really do need the Galaxy S10+? Or are you considering a profession in law? Then you need to join the Mock Trial Club. This is a club designed to introduce high school students to how our legal system works. You will learn through role playing as attorneys and witnesses that are trying a real life court case. All members will participate in the YMCA Mock Trial competition in November. You will also be competing for a position on the Elite Team that will compete in the SC Bar Association Tournament in February/March. This club is an extension of YIG public speaking class but not required. Membership Requirements: Any student can join but must come get information in the first two weeks of school. Model United Nations/Youth in Government Advisor: Ms. Schramm/Mr. Campbell Michael.Campbell@beaufort.k12.sc.us & mary.schramm@beaufort.k12.sc.us This club is designed to introduce students to various governmental processes through debate techniques, emphasizing citizenship. The primary focus will be on development of speech and debate skills. Students will learn parliamentary procedures and current event issues through various simulations dealing with the legislative and judicial branches. YIG will culminate in November with a state simulation at the YMCA Youth in Government conference. The students can also choose to participate in the Model United Nations immediately following the Youth in Government conference. Model United Nations will have a county conference at Beaufort High and a regional competition at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA. Membership Requirements: Any student can join but must come get information in the first two weeks of school.

HOSA helps members set realistic career and educational goals, develop workplace readiness skills, understand current healthcare issues, develop effective leadership qualities and skills, network with healthcare professionals, participate in community service activities, build self-confidence, motivation and enthusiasm, celebrate accomplishments. Competitive events program include state and national recognition for individual and team achievement. 50 competitive events and 7 recognition events in 6 categories aligned to the National Healthcare Foundation Standards, essential knowledge and skill development directly related to healthcare curriculum, curriculum component of health science education programs. Membership Requirements: Any student who is or has been enrolled in any CATE health science or sports medicine class can join. Dues are $35 for the year to help cover state and national dues and shirt, additional fees may apply for conference attendance. Must attend meetings to attend annual conference

Men and Women of Distinction Advisor: Mr. Bigham jermaine.bigham@beaufort.k12.sc.usThis is a student-led organization which provides its members with opportunities for community service, building character, and developing leadership skills. We are seeking caring and career minded students to serve and transform our community. Members will have opportunities to serve the greater Bluffton area in activities that support Back Pack Buddies, Bluffton Self Help, The American Red Cross, Keeping greater Bluffton beautiful, along with other projections determined necessary to better our community. Meetings will be twice per month with service hours during school, after school and on weekends are required. Dues will be approximately $25 for the year. Membership Requirements: grades 9-12, Professional dress one day every other week, attend meetings, attend events after school and on weekends, pay dues.

This year we have the capacity to stream our matches and are also looking for anyone interested in video editing, shoutcasting, or being a club manager. Membership requirements: There is a 10 dollar club due. The club is open to all but there will be tryouts for the competitive teams.
