The Budapest, Hungary-born maverick singer, songwriter, performer, and frontwoman of the Los Angeles-based eponymous band DOROTHY brings gusto, grit, and glory back to hard rock, exuding superstar-size confidence coupled with the quiet resolve of an old school Western anti-hero. She has unassumingly blazed her own trail with sold out tours, major collaborations, and over 1 billion streams already in the rearview. DOROTHY arrived with the force of a hurricane back in 2016, serving up the full-length debut ROCKISDEAD. A BioBlitz is a fun, fast-paced community science event where participants work together to find and identify as many species as possible in a single day. Throughout the day, expert-led hikes will explore different groups of organisms along our trails, including birds (8–10 am), fungi (10 am–12 pm), amphibians and reptiles (12–2 pm), and plants (2–4 pm). Along the way, we’ll document the species we encounter and build a snapshot of the biodiversity that calls our property home. Each hike will be guided by a knowledgeable naturalist who will help with identification and share fascinating facts about the plants and animals we find—so no experience is necessary. Whether you’re a seasoned naturalist or simply curious about the natural world, come be part of this exciting day of discovery!

Join DPNC on Tuesdays, 1:30 – 4:30 pm, for our science-based curriculum which introduces students to the wonders of the natural world! New topics are covered each week through hands-on activities, meeting live animals, games and time for nature play and socialization. Classes have a minimum of 4 students and a maximum of 14. There are two teachers per age group. Please bring a snack and water bottle to each class. Be prepared to go outside in all weather conditions! Sign-ups are by class. Sign up for one, some or all! Sign up is by the following age groups: Explorers (ages 4-5) Scientists (ages 6-8) Adventurers (ages 9-12) Animal Curators (ages 13-15)* *Please note that our Animal Curator Program does not follow the same curriculum as above. Students are immersed in hands-on activities working with our resident and rehabilitating wildlife. Activities include cleaning and setting up tanks, providing enrichment activities for wildlife and learning more about the care of wild and resident animals. Students alternate animal care tasks with hikes, nature journaling and other group activities at DPNC. This program is limited to 6 students and has one instructor. Students need to be able to work independently.

Fusion is a celebration of the visual, culinary and performing arts.  It features the fine works of the artists in the Velvet Mill, culinary creations of regional restaurants, a wine & beer tasting, live music by SUGAR, and tasteful, body painting. On Friday May 8, 2026 at 6 pm, the Ocean Community Chamber of Commerce will host the 14th annual FUSION event at the Velvet Mill Studios in the Stonington Borough. Tickets are $35 in advance and $45 at the door. This popular and unique event showcases the Velvet Mill, highlights local artists and is also a fundraiser for the business organizations who recognize and promote the arts as an important partner in the region’s economy. The focal point of the evening will be live body painting on models that push the boundaries of artistic creativity and design. Guests will sample beer and wine from area breweries and vineyards, all while enjoying culinary specialties offered by local eateries.
