Beginning Monday, January 8th from 2-3:30, we will start a weekly open art studio that will meet every Monday at 2pm. There will be no instructor for this meeting, but you are welcome to bring your own art supplies and work in our cozy library surrounded by books while ......More

Beginning Monday, January 8th from 2-3:30, we will start a weekly open art studio that will meet every Monday at 2pm. There will be no instructor for this meeting, but you are welcome to bring your own art supplies and work in our cozy library surrounded by books while listening to our 'classical music for studying' playlist. There will be peers here to discuss art with and a weekly time to make progress on your work at your own pace. Any medium is welcome, including watercolor, drawing, charcoal, and acrylics. If you use oil paint, we ask that you use low odor products and bring something to protect our carpeting. We will not be taking registrations, so you are welcome to stop by as much or as little as you wish. We will have space for 10-15 artists each week. Please feel free to stop by or call us at 294-2081 with any questions. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Tom Martino is starting a new, six week session on November 10th from 2-3:30pm: "I would like to present a six-week series on oil Pastels and the techniques of impressionism. My intent is to introduce the class to various brands of impressionism as practiced by several masters both past and contemporary. The artists considered would include Sergei Bongart, Guy Rose, Henry Hensche, C W Mundy, and Charles C. Gruppe. I have videos about some of these artists and direct experience regarding encountering others in workshops. Since these artists have worked primarily in oil, oil pastels should be able to illustrate most of the techniques discussed." Please bring your own supplies, and please ensure that your pastels do not crumble onto the chairs or carpeting during the sessions as they do stain.
