Join Spencer Pfrogner from the history-minded YouTube channel Redoubt Productions for an hour-long journey into the past, right in the heart of downtown Ligonier. This experience highlights the heritage of several landmarks surrounding the town square. Incredible true stories that you will learn span from the era of the horse-drawn stagecoach, the age of steam railroading and into the rise of the automobile. Guests will walk away learning about the people who continually molded The Diamond in parallel with the ever-changing direction of U.S. History. Guided Tours will be offered at 10 AM, 12 PM & 2 PM. Tours are free to attend and begin outside the main entrance of the Library building. Tours are outdoors and circle The Diamond with the use of sidewalks and crosswalks. Guests are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather as tours occur rain or shine, with exceptions for severe weather. Each month, scientists and educators from Powdermill Nature Reserve share insights into the forests, fields, streams, birds, mammals, insects, and native plant communities that shape our region. Learn how species interact, how habitats support biodiversity, and how ongoing research is helping us better understand and care for the landscapes around us. Held on the 3rd Tuesday of every month from 5:30–6:45 PM, each session features an accessible presentation followed by time for questions and conversation. Join us for the Inaugural Golf Outing benefitting the Ligonier Valley Library on June 19th at Ligonier Country Club! This exciting day on the course brings together community members and supporters to support the library’s programs and services. Golfers of all skill levels are welcome—register as a single player or as part of a foursome. The cost is $175 per golfer and includes a continental breakfast, 18 holes of golf, skill contests and prizes, a luncheon buffet, and a voucher for an additional round of golf at the club. The day begins with registration and breakfast at 8:00 AM, followed by a 9:00 AM shotgun start. All proceeds benefit the Ligonier Valley Library, a registered nonprofit dedicated to serving the community. To register, email your name and the names of your foursome (if applicable) to [email protected] can be made by check payable to Ligonier Valley Library Association, 120 W. The Opening Reception for this year’s Historic Photography Show, “The Road to the Revolutionary War in Ligonier Valley,” will be held from 4:00 – 6:45 on Tuesday, June 23. Visitors will be able to view the exhibit, talk with committee members and others about the Revolution, and enjoy some snacks. Beginning at 5:30 Monty Murty will give a PowerPoint presentation, “American Scripture – the Declaration of Independence.” His presentation will be filled with art of the period and give an account of the process of writing, signing and publishing copies of the text. Mr. Murty takes his title from the title of Dr. Pauline Maier’s award winning book, considered THE authoritative history of the process of making the Declaration. He will give some little known facts and also answer questions as well as provide a one-page annotated bibliography of suggested reading.
