The purpose of these meetings is to plan for upcoming training sessions and competitions, along with managing fundraising and community events. The public is invited to attend these meetings and to participate in the planning. Special Olympics is a global movement that unleashes the human spirit through the transformative power and joy of sport, every day around the world. Through sports, health, education and community programming, Special Olympics is tackling inactivity, intolerance, isolation and injustice that people throughout the world face, especially people with intellectual disabilities. In Franklin County, we serve approximately 300 athletes with year-round sports training in floor hockey, bowling, aquatics, track and field, softball, basketball, volleyball, long distance walking/running, bocce, soccer, and golf. Franklin County Special Olympics Athletic Leadership is a partner with the Franklin County Library System

This group meets to support area artists, from beginners to the nearly professional. Monthly meetings are devoted to demonstrations or critiques of members' work. There is also a website, and a monthly newsletter that describes exhibition opportunities and classes in the area. Meetings are free, although there is a small yearly fee to become a member. Each member is allowed to enter four pieces in the show, which is held annually, in June. Meetings are open to the public, and free. The social time takes place during the first half hour, and the meeting starts at 1 p.m.
