Celebrate America's 250th birthday with us through a guided hike on the Two Ponds Trail at Pocono Environmental Education Center!During this hike, visitors will explore the intrinsic and extrinstic sounds of nature while drawing comparisons to our nation's birthday through observation.Two Ponds is a easy to moderate trail with some elevation gain. Visitors should be prepared with sturdy shoes, water, and appropriate hiking attire. Bug spray and sunscreen are highly recommended. This hike is subject to change due to hazardous or inclement weather.

From the winding ridges in North Carolina to the peaks of southern New York, the Appalachian Mountains have inspired art for hundreds of years. Appalachian folk music is a musical style inspired by the Scots-Irish, English, and other European immigrants, and included ballads, fiddle tunes, reels and Sacred Harp singing. Some of the rhythms and instruments also came from African American traditions creating a totally new American Folk style that builds from the notes of fiddles, banjos, and dulcimers. The Appalachian dulcimer is a true American folk instrument developed by the people of the Appalachian Mountains. Learn more about the music that these mountains made by attending this volunteer-led program. Attendees will enjoy a history of Appalachian music, a performance of traditional Appalachian songs, and an opportunity to strum a few simple tunes on the Appalachian Dulcimer.
