FREE ART RECEPTION: Winter 2025 Student Exhibit

The Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts (Charter Arts)Â Visual Arts Departmentâs will hold a FREE public Art Reception for its Winter Student Exhibition December 5, 2025, from 6-8 PM in the schoolâs Corpora Gallery, located at 321 East 3rd Street in Bethlehem. This stunning exhibit features more than 200 student works and is a must-see! This much-anticipated annualÂ exhibitionÂ offers an opportunity to view a variety of impressiveÂ studentÂ work. TheÂ exhibitÂ features a diverse array of mediums as it showcases emerging talent and highlights the studentsâ commitment to their craft. Through their work, these young artists explore powerful themes of identity, connection, and emotion, offering fresh perspectives on the world around them. The exhibit will be on display through December 15th. Private appointments to view can be arranged by calling 610-868-2971. The visual arts program of study at Charter Arts provides a well-rounded, structured, and classical fine art education. Approached as an academic as well as artistic discipline, the sequence of courses inspire students to form connections across the curriculum. Students progressively build conceptual understanding as they work to advance skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, digital design concepts, photography, art history, and professional practices. Over the course of study within the visual arts program, students develop a portfolio expressive of their active studio participation, work ethic, personal inquiry, passion for art, and dedication to skill advancement. THEATRE: "The Plot, Like Gravy, Thickens" by Billy St. John

The Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts (Charter Arts) Theatre Department will kick off its 2025-26 season with âThe Plot, Like Gravy, Thickensâ by Billy St. John, October 24-26, 2025. Inspired by Agatha Christie, this play takes a comic and contemporary spin on the classic whodunit. With a playwright leading the audience through his process, characters who break the fourth wall and audience participation to help solve the case, âThe Plot, Like Gravy, Thickensâ, will keep the audience on the edge of its seat in more ways than one. This production is directed by Anelise Rodriguez and features a talented cast of young actors. This comedic murder mystery promises a delightful evening of suspense and surprises! Rodriguez shares: âThe audience can expect the same excitement and intrigue from a classic murder mystery but with a lot more humor. Thatâs what appealed to me most about this play â St. Johnâs ability to take something familiar, maybe a bit predictable, and make it feel new.â Show times include: Evening Performances on October 24 & 25 at 7 PM and a Matinee Performance on October 26 at 2 PM. Tickets are $14 Adult, $8 Student/Child and can be purchased at CharterArts.org or at the door. A Stir of Creativity: Dance Soup serves up a Vibrant Blend of Student Choreography

Warm Up with some Dance Soup! A Stir of Creativity: Dance Soup concert at Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts Serves up a Vibrant Blend of Student Choreography Dance Soup has become a cherished annual fall tradition at Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts (Charter Arts), celebrating the artistry and innovation of student choreographers. Under the direction of Rebecca Moyer and Jennifer Weaver, this yearâs concert offers a dynamic blend of senior solos and ensemble works, featuring a wide range of styles-from modern and contemporary to jazz and ballet. âThe program truly reflects the individuality of our dancers,â says Weaver. âAudiences can look forward to a performance thatâs rich in variety-each piece tells a different story, yet together they create an exciting and cohesive evening of dance.â The concert serves as a capstone for students enrolled in the Creative Process for the dancer course, providing an opportunity to apply their classroom learning to a live performance setting. Many students begin conceptualizing their choreography over the summer, refining ideas and submitting proposals for faculty feedback in the fall. The creative process involves auditioning peers, leading rehearsals, and working closely with mentors to shape and polish their final pieces. âThis experience pushes students to take on multiple roles-artist, collaborator, and leader,â Moyer explains. âThey not only refine their technical and creative voices but also learn how to communicate vision and direction to others.â Weaver adds, âThroughout the process, we encourage constructive feedback and experimentation. Itâs exciting to see how students take risks, explore new movement vocabularies, and ultimately find their own choreographic identities.â As for the showâs distinctive name, Weaver explains. âLike a great soup, this concert is made up of many ingredients-different styles, perspectives, and ideas-all coming together to create something warm, flavorful, and deeply satisfying for everyone involved.â Evening performances Nov. 21 & 22 at 7 PM. Matinee performance Nov. 22 at 2 PM. Tickets are $8-$14 and available at CharterArts.org.
