This welcoming six-session course invites community members ages 16 and up to step onto the stage at Gesa Power House Theatre and explore the fundamentals of acting in a supportive, low-pressure environment. Taught by longtime performer and beloved former Walla Walla Community College instructor Kevin Loomer, the class is designed for beginners as well as anyone curious about reconnecting with their creativity. Through theatre games, scene exploration, voice and movement exercises, and ensemble activities, participants will build confidence, presence, and authentic communication. Whether you’ve always wanted to try acting, want to feel more comfortable speaking in front of others, or are simply looking for a creative outlet and a welcoming community, this class offers a chance to play, explore, and grow. Participants may explore:• Theatre games that build trust, creativity, and spontaneity• Voice and movement exercises to develop presence and expression• Basic acting tools for approaching scenes and characters• Listening and responding authentically with scene partners• Improvisation techniques that help participants get out of their heads and into the moment• Ensemble work that fosters connection and collaborationEach session will build on the group’s comfort and curiosity, allowing the instructor to adapt activities to the interests and experience level of the participants. About the InstructorKevin Loomer is an experienced actor, director, and teacher who spent many years inspiring students as a theatre instructor at Walla Walla Community College. Known for his talent, humor, and ability to create welcoming learning environments, Kevin has helped countless students discover their voices both on and off the stage. His teaching focuses on helping participants feel comfortable taking creative risks while developing the tools and confidence to express themselves authentically. No experience required. Just show up ready to learn, play, and connect.

The veterans who have served our nation bear the daily burden of their untold stories. The Red Badge Project was established by former Army Captain Evan Bailey and actor and Air Force Veteran Tom Skerritt to lift that weight. The Red Badge Project is dedicated to improving the lives of veterans by sharing storytelling skills to help them manage the challenges of PTS, TBIs, moral injury, and more. Bi-monthly classes for veterans are offered in conjunction with the Vet Centers in Walla Walla, Seattle, Federal Way, Everett, and Spokane. At this event, we are honored to be some of the first people outside of the Red Badge Project classroom to hear these stories. This program is sponsored by Gesa Credit Union, and supported in part, by a grant from the Washington State Arts Commission.  This is a community-supported event, made possible by the generosity of attendees like you. Space Jam blends live-action and animation to tell the story of basketball legend Michael Jordan, who is unexpectedly recruited by Looney Tunes characters to help them win a high-stakes basketball game. The Tunes are threatened by a group of tiny aliens who steal the talents of top NBA players and transform into powerful opponents known as the Monstars. With their freedom on the line, Bugs Bunny and his friends convince Jordan to come out of retirement and lead their team. As the game unfolds, the Tunes rely on teamwork, humor, and Jordan’s skills to take on the much stronger Monstars. A troubled young boy named Jesse forms an unlikely bond with a captive orca named Willy at a marine park. Initially rebellious and disconnected, Jesse is assigned community service at the park, where he begins to connect with the intelligent whale. As their relationship deepens, Jesse learns that Willy has been separated from his family and is being exploited for profit by the park’s owners. When the owners decide Willy is no longer valuable and plan to dispose of him, Jesse and his friends race against time to set the whale free. In a climactic moment, Jesse helps Willy escape back into the ocean, symbolizing both the whale’s return to freedom and Jesse’s own emotional growth and sense of belonging. Gesa Power House Theatre is proud to announce the return of SHAKESPEARE UNDER THE STARS to Echolands Winery! This outdoor production invites you to experience Shakespeare as it was meant to be: alive, communal, and surrounded by the beauty of the natural world. Set against the stunning backdrop of Echolands Winery, evenings begin with live pre-show music and the chance to gather with friends over a glass of wine before the story begins. You will have eight opportunties to attend for 2026. The show will begin each evening August 20-23, and August 27-30 at 7:00PM.  This year we will enjoy Shakespeare’s classic comedy of mischief, music, and mistaken identity unfolds under the open skyfor a production of TWELFTH NIGHT. A shipwreck separates Viola from her twin brother, Sebastian, and leaves her stranded in an unfamiliar land. Disney’s classic, Aladdin, tells the story of a kind-hearted street thief named Aladdin who struggles to survive in the city of Agrabah. His life changes when he meets Princess Jasmine, who longs to escape the constraints of royal life. After being tricked by the power-hungry sorcerer Jafar into retrieving a magical lamp from the Cave of Wonders, Aladdin discovers a Genie who can grant him three wishes. Hoping to win Jasmine’s heart, he uses his wishes to disguise himself as a wealthy prince. As Aladdin navigates his new identity, he must also outwit Jafar, who seeks the lamp’s power for himself. Ultimately, Aladdin learns the importance of honesty and staying true to who he is, using his final wish to free the Genie rather than for personal gain.
