Get help with your tax questions and file for free with Josephine County Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) at the library. Appointments are for taxpayers who receive basic documents including W-2, Interest, Dividends, 1099-R, 1099-NEC, or Social Security. To make an appointment, call JoCo VITA at 541-223-9597 or visit jocovita.org. Tuesdays 2–6 pm & Fridays 1–5 pm No computer skills required. Make an appointment with an in-person tax preparer to have them file for you. Bring proof of identity, tax forms, social security card, and last year’s return. Pick up submitted tax return a week later. Have a tax- related question? Drop in on Fridays during the program to get answers to questions like “Do I need to file?” or “Who can I claim as a dependent?”

The Lifestyle & Nutrition Course is a 13-week, evidence-based, disease prevention and reversal series that uses lifestyle medicine strategies to address the leading causes of illness in the U.S. and Douglas County. Utilizing food as medicine, new topics are covered each week, including heart disease, diabetes, cancer, obesity, and other chronic illnesses. Thousands of people have participated in the Food as Medicine Program over the last 10 years and have seen positive results such as lower cholesterol, lower blood pressure, normalized blood sugar level, significant weight loss, a decrease in dosage or even discontinuation or certain medications, improved mood and greater energy and vibrancy. Committed participants are invited to verify their progress through a pre and post blood lab.
