Blood donors are urgently needed now to help ensure patients at hospitals across the country continue to receive critical medical care. Giving the "right" type of blood donation - based on your blood type and patient needs - helps ensure the best use of your valuable contribution. Whole Blood Donation Here are some things to consider when determining how you can have the most impact. Whole blood is the most flexible type of donation. It can be transfused in its original form, or it can be used to help multiple people when separated into its specific components of red cells, plasma and platelets. Whole blood is frequently given to trauma patients and people undergoing surgery. Power Red Donation During a Power Red donation, you give a concentrated dose of red cells, the part of your blood used every day for those needing transfusions as part of their care. In this workshop, we will focus on the binding force of the kleshas, how they affect our lives, and how understanding their hold on us informs our practice. When we see how it is, we know what to do.   DATE: Friday, May 3, 2024 TIME: 5:30 - 8:30 PM   The Yamas (Restraints): Can We just Stop Making Things Worse? (3 hours)   The yoga path, as Patanjali lays it out in the Yoga Sutras, is a path that takes the mind from a state of disturbance to a state of harmony, and it begins with the practice of the yamas. In this workshop, we will look honestly at our addiction to worry, blame, fear, and judgement and how we can use these ethical principles to wean ourselves from disturbance into an ever growing tranquility.   Lecture, discussion, self-reflection.   DATE: Saturday, May 4, 2024 TIME: 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM   The Niyamas (Observances): Creating a Peaceful Mind (3 hours) The second half of yoga’s ethical practice is an invitation to cultivate the inner life of a mystic by teaching the mind to enjoy the simpler things of life. The first duck to cross the finish line will win $1000.00, second duck $500.00 and third duck a gift basket. Each duck is the same exact size, color and weight. Approximately 3,000 rubber ducks participate in the race. The number on your Duck Adoption Certificate corresponds with the number on the bottom of the rubber duck entered into the race. The decision of the winning duck is up to the sole discretion of the Aqua Doc staff and is final. Winners must be 18 years of age or older and do not need to be present to win. Winners are contacted via email, following the races. Corresponding Duck Adoption Certificate may be required as verification before prizes are awarded.
