Take in the beauty and wonders of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park while meandering through miles of nature and cityscapes in a vintage rail car. Discover local history while making lasting memories with family and friends on this iconic excursion.Guests may choose from two ride options to best fit their schedule and interests. The Classic 24-mile, round-trip ride departs from either the Rockside Depot or the Akron Northside Depot and lasts approximately 4 hours and 15 minutes. For guests seeking a shorter adventure, our Express rides depart from the Peninsula Depot and travel round trip either north to Rockside Depot and back or south to Akron Northside Depot and back. Join us for a yoga hike with Kim Scott Sowinski, 500 RYT, in Cuyahoga Valley National Park!Power down and connect with nature while using all your senses: smelling the forest, seeing the textures and colors, feeling the breeze, listening to the birds, tasting the air while stopping to practice yoga postures (asana) and learning breath practices (pranayama) during your moderately paced hike. Lower your stress. Clear your mind. Increase creativity and cognitive function.Ideal for those ages 14 and older, yoga hikes are inclusive of all fitness and yoga abilities.This program is part of the Nature Rx program, sponsored by AARP Ohio. The Low Power Happy Hour speaker series features local professionals working toward a more sustainable future for Northeast Ohio.This month: Fireflies, A Whole New LightJoin us for an exciting presentation about everyone’s favorite summertime insect! Did you know that there are more than 20 species of fireflies in Ohio? While many people share experiences of catching fireflies as children on summer nights, this program will open up the fantastic nature of fireflies in a whole new light. Join Carly Martin as we learn about what makes a firefly what it is, how diverse they are, what kinds of fireflies are both poisonous and venomous, and how wonderful it all is.Carly Martin has been a naturalist for Cleveland Metroparks since 1998. She has varied interests including insects, children's programming, experiential learning, and making nature learning an adventure. Carly has had a life-long love of fireflies and has grown that into a passion for learning about and sharing the wonders of firefly diversity.
