Kristin Andreassen and Chris EldridgeKristin and Critter met back when their bands Uncle Earl and Punch Brothers were just getting started. Over the years, they’ve played music with some of most luminous artists of our time (Paul Simon, John Paul Jones, Emmylou Harris) and they’ve won awards (John Lennon Song Contest Grand Prize, a Grammy, Americana Music Association Instrumentalist of the Year). New parenthood has gifted this couple with more time at home, where they’ve taken to playing Kristin’s songs — both old and new — all chosen by Critter to be reimagined for two guitars, two voices, and a more finely tuned sense of “the things that matter.”Learn more about their upcoming performance at Voices in the Valley.The Peninsula Foundation supports the Arts Community by presenting Voices in the Valley, a showcase of traditional roots music. The Lippman School is proud to announce the world premiere of an original work, “Ziibin Bemidjiwan: The River Flows,” by Pangea World Theater of Minneapolis as part of the We Do It for the Water grant project. The two performances of this work will be held at 2:00pm on May 18, 2024 at the Oxbow Area, Cascade Valley Metro Park and 2:00pm on May 19, 2024 in Howe Meadow, Cuyahoga Valley National Park.“Ziibin Bemidjiwan: The River Flows” was written by playwright and water walker Sharon Day, enrolled member of the Bois Forte Band of Ojibwe, and directed by Dipankar Mukherjee. “Ziibin Bemidjiwan: The River Flows” consists of the musings, songs and stories of an Ojibwe water walker and explores how we may heal and restore our connection to the water, the world, and to each other.

Are you looking for a way to get involved at Cuyahoga Valley National Park? Join us for our invasive plant removal drop-in on Thursday, May 23 to improve habitat for native plants and wildlife! Invasive species overcrowd native species, making it difficult for them to thrive, which in turn affects the wildlife in the ecosystem. Your efforts will help improve soil quality, restore native plants, and create better habitat for native wildlife. Drop-ins are a great opportunity for both first-time volunteers and veteran volunteers to get involved in their national park.You will use hand tools such as loppers and saws to remove invasive plants. Suitable for ages 10 and up. Volunteers who are 10-15 years of age must have parent or guardian supervision at the project site. Volunteers who are 16-17 years of age are only required to have a parent or guardian sign their Volunteer Agreement form.*Outdoor work gloves and eye protection will be provided, but volunteers are permitted to bring personal equipment. We will have a water cooler, please bring a refillable water bottle.
