Make a lantern and join our partners at Canalway for an evening stroll along the Towpath Trail! The Towpath Trail Lantern Parade is a celebration of light creativity and sustainability welcoming spring to the banks of the Cuyahoga River. The parade will take place on March 7 at 6:30 pm. It will start and end at Sokolowski’s Overlook and include a 1.5 mile roundtrip along the Towpath Trail.The parade will feature local artists displaying illuminated art made from recycled materials. The lanterns will celebrate history and nature. If you are planning on attending make and bring your own lantern from recycled materials and a battery powered light!Hosted by Canalway the Towpath Trail Lantern Parade is supported in part by the residents of Cuyahoga County through a public grant from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture.Free parking available at 1429 Abbey Ave.

The Low Power Happy Hour speaker series features local professionals working toward a more sustainable future for Northeast Ohio.This month: Protecting Our Waterways with River Guardians OhioLearn about this success stories of River Guardians Ohio and their work to clean up the Tuscarawas River and more. Join us for an inspiring conversation with James Carnahan, founder of River Guardians Ohio. Carnahan has found huge success in cleaning up local waterways in a short amount of time. Through the creation of simple tools and a small, dedicated team, River Guardians Ohio cleaned up over a ton of trash within their first three months. Come hear their story.River Guardians Ohio was formed after its Founder, James Carnahan, discovered and reported a major oil spill in the Tuscarawas River in Barberton, Ohio in July 2023 while on his way to his favorite fishing hole. This led to an 11-week clean up and the formation of River Guardians Ohio.Since then, River Guardians Ohio created their own breakaway booms that helped in the collection of over 1,000 pounds of trash in just one month.
