15th Amendment to the US Constitution ratified in 1879
On February 3rd, 1879 the Fifteenth Amendment was ratified. It stated no citizen can be denied the right to vote because of race, color, or previous condition of servitude. Of course, back in 1879 the amendment was only for men.
