Joni’s House’s adult day program serves individuals 18 and older with physical, intellectual, developmental, or emotional disabilities who are no longer enrolled in high school or a similar program. Participants will enjoy Christ-centered, adaptive teachings, interactive activities, and a fun, enriching experience! If you’re a woman, this meeting’s for you! The “Women of Faith” virtual Zoom meeting will include a wide, diverse group of women: single, divorced, married, mothers, grandmothers, great grandmothers, step mothers, non-mothers, women working inside or outside the home, young, old, disabled, not disabled, care givers, and women of diverse ethnic backgrounds. The goal of this group is to give a forum where all women can meet, share blessings and needs, laugh and cry together, learn to love and support one another, pray together, develop long-term, Christ-centered relationships, but, most of all, grow in their faith in God and His Word. The Joni and Friends Capstone Internship provides graduate students with the opportunity to complete their final capstone project in the context of hands-on disability ministry. This program is meant to assist early career professionals (i.e. Occupational Therapy Doctorate, Doctorate of Physical Therapy, and special educators) in finding the pathway to connect their vocation to God’s global mission. Every Joni and Friends Capstone Intern is given meaningful opportunities to use their gifts and talents to serve people living with disability. This core text aims to transform the way Christians view God’s plan for disability and suffering through biblical education on the theology of suffering, with practical application on building disability ministries.Empirical Research/Program DevelopmentIn partnership with faculty advisors, a capstone project will be completed under the supervision of a Joni and Friends staff member, in collaboration with one or more Joni and Friends domestic or international partners.
