Join us in August as we continue our year of Education & Workforce Council discussions. This year our focus is on Student Access & Success. We hope to explore the agencies, partners, and individuals that contribute to the educational and personal growth of our community's students. In August we will hear from Emily Wiersma, Director of the Elon Academy at Elon University.  She will speak about the Elon Academy program and its work to integrate and support local students' college success. Join us on Thursday, August 27th to learn more about this organization and its role in providing student access & success in Alamance County.

Welcome to ElevateHER Entrepreneurs, designed just for female entrepreneurs/small business owners! This program is all about building community. After all, nobody supports an entrepreneur better than another entrepreneur. This event is designed to create space for female founders/owners to lean on each other, to encourage one another during the business lows, and to celebrate the business highs, and for all to know that we have each other's backs.  We will enjoy meeting fellow founders/owners and connecting with each other over coffee at one of the most unique businesses in the area! Come learn more about this company and the owner's entrepreneurial story. Bring your business cards, flyers, and/or brochures. We will have an announcement board so you may share any news. You are welcome to drop-in as your schedule allows or come and stay for the entire event. Registration is not required but you are welcome to sign up if you would like to receive a reminder before the event.  Leave refreshed and inspired in pursuit of your own business success! Participants are not required to be members of the Alamance Chamber to engage in this program, but attendance is limited to female business owners only.

In 2025, the Alamance Chamber proudly led a delegation of business and community leaders to Washington, D.C. for our Washington Fly-In. Over the course of two days, Chamber leadership and community stakeholders met directly with members of Congress, federal agencies, and policy leaders to advocate for the priorities that matter most to Alamance County. These conversations provided a valuable platform to elevate the voice of our business community while gaining firsthand insight into the federal policies shaping our local economy, workforce, infrastructure, and future growth. The Washington Fly-In is more than a trip, it is an investment in the future of Alamance County. By bringing local leaders to the table where decisions are made, we strengthen relationships, increase visibility for our region, and ensure our community’s needs and opportunities remain part of the national conversation. Join us for this year’s Economic Summit, featuring a breakfast program focused on AI, Innovation & Regional Competitiveness and how emerging technologies are shaping the future of business, workforce, and economic growth in our region. Featuring insights from industry leaders, innovators, and economic experts, attendees will explore the opportunities and challenges surrounding artificial intelligence and innovation, and what these advancements mean for businesses, communities, and the continued competitiveness of Alamance County.    The program will feature a keynote address from Dr. John Hardin, Executive Director of the Office of Science, Technology & Innovation (OSTI) at the North Carolina Department of Commerce, followed by a panel discussion moderated by Haya Ajjan, Dean of the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business and Professor of Management Information Systems at Elon University. Panelists Scott Krewson of Anderson Sterilizers, Rob Countiss of AKG-America, and Dustin Gladwell of Charlie Mike and Elon University will share their perspectives on how businesses and organizations are leveraging innovation, adapting to emerging technologies, and preparing for the future.

Principal for a Day is an invitation-only opportunity that connects community and business leaders with public school principals for a firsthand look at the day-to-day experiences, opportunities, and challenges of leading a school. As this is the pilot year for the program, participation is by invitation only and invitations are non-transferable. All public schools in Alamance County will be participating, giving invited guests the opportunity to experience school leadership across the district. Please plan for more than half of your day to participate, with a luncheon immediately following the school visits. A formal invitation with additional event details will be sent at a later date.
