You can earn community service credit when you meet with your peers and teen librarian to discuss what you want from your public library's Teen Services Department. We will discuss the various kinds of dementia and how they differ from Alzheimer's Disease, the stages and risk factors of Alzheimer's, the latest research and treatments available, as well as the resources that can help you or a loved one confronting changes in memory and cognitive health. Join us for Zumba with Laura, a fun and energetic way to start your weekend!This lively Zumba class has been reviewed multiple times, including in “Best of Westchester.” Laura has enjoyed teaching classes all over Westchester County for 18 years, for all levels and ages. A graduate of the prestigious Carnegie Mellon University in dance and theatre, she danced in the hit movie Saturday Night Fever. Thus, she brings that extra motivating and fun theatricality to her classes. Zumba is truly a "happy feet" workout, encouraging people to return again and again because of the explosive fusion of Latin and international rhythms and dance moves. Whoever thought getting in shape would be so much fun? Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a bottle of water.

Join Marcus Renna in the Scott Room for a screening and discussion of the 1971 crime thriller The Organization, directed by Don Medford and starring Sidney Poitier, Barbara McNair, and Gerald S. O'Laughlin. The film is the last in the trilogy beginning with In the Heat of the Night, loosely based on the novels by John Ball following African American police detective Virgil Tibbs. In San Francisco, after a bewildering break-in at a company in which an executive is killed by shots from two different guns and nothing obvious is stolen, detective Virgil Tibbs (Poitier) is contacted by the group claiming responsibility. They say they are urban revolutionaries and that the company they broke into is a front for drug dealers and they stole millions of dollars worth of heroin in the hopes that the police would investigate the shadowy organization. Yet when Tibbs begins to dig deeper, people cooperating with him start to get murdered, and suspicion falls on Tibbs when corrupt police officers in the narcotics division tie him to the stolen drugs.After many twists and turns, Tibbs successfully identifies several leaders of the organization and arrests them, but they are soon after taken out by mob hitmen. Tibbs reflects wearily that he has won a battle but is losing the larger war.A twisty, well-pedigreed conclusion to the character of Virgil Tibbs in film, steeped in the gritty action and moral ambiguity of 1970s police thrillers.
