Family Program - Space Adventure to the Moon with Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum and Planetarium at the Library

Ages 3 and up with accompanying adult. Explore the properties of the Sun and the energy it gives us. Then, return to Earth to discover the water cycle through a kinesthetic activity, and study clouds, lightning and rainbows. Next, we focus on the Moon to observe its surface, features, and changing phases. Finally, students journey to the Moon themselves to conduct an experiment about gravity with the Apollo astronauts and learn about the Artemis program â the United Statesâ most recent mission to the Moon. After the presentation, there will be an observing session using the telescope. There will be a 30 minute set up. Families are welcome to visit the Family Center or stay in the auditorium before you are guided outside. Rain cancels the observing session.Tickets will be given to Plainview-Old Bethpage school residents beginning Sunday, May 31 at the Family Center. Limit 4 tickets per family. Photo I.D. or Library Card required. If there are extra tickets, they will be given out in person on Sunday, June 7 on a first come, first served basis. No children under three years of age and no strollers please. No food and beverages permitted. Plainview-Old Bethpage school district residents without tickets will be admitted followed by non-residents on the day of the program, space permitting.
