About Us
The Huguenot & New Rochelle Historical Association was founded in 1886 The Association owns & maintains the Thomas Paine Cottage Museum & Sophia Brewster One-Room Schoolhouse; both operating as historic museum sites for over 100 years. As a 501(c)(3) educational non-profit we strive to preserve, share & educate on the rich history of the City of New Rochelle, Siwanoy Indigenous Americans, original Huguenot settlers & founding father Thomas Paine. We are committed to creating low and no cost in house and outreach programming allowing all members of our community the opportunity to attend. It is our honor and privilege to operate the last standing house in the Northeast that Paine called home, to educate on the Huguenot connection to this historic home and New Rochelle and the ever evolving and changing history of New Rochelle, NY.
