Our December Homeschool Hour invites young learners to jump into a cozy, creative Winter Makerspace designed just for them! Children will spend the hour building their own winter-themed creations—such as houses, trees, animals, snowy hills, or small characters—using paper, tape, glue sticks, and cotton. Every project will join together to form one large “Winter Town,” allowing kids to see how their individual art becomes part of a larger shared world. This open-ended session supports fine motor skills, imagination, early engineering concepts, and joyful self-expression. This program provides an encouraging, hands-on environment where kids can explore, build, and create at their own pace with no required planning or writing. Library staff will be on hand to assist, offer ideas, and help with materials while ensuring a fun and safe experience for all. Join us for a hands-on, imagination-filled Homeschool Hour as we transform the library into a collaborative Winter Makerspace! Students will spend the hour designing and constructing their own buildings, landscapes, and winter scenes using simple materials like paper, tape, cardboard, and cotton. From bridges and cabins to snowy forests, towers, and whimsical characters, each creation becomes part of a shared “Winter Town” built entirely by the group. This open-ended session encourages creative problem-solving, engineering exploration, and teamwork without the pressure of a planning period or structured assignments. The atmosphere is relaxed, supportive, and perfect for young makers who love to build and experiment. Staff will be available to help with materials and guide students as needed, but the session is fully student-driven—letting older learners explore STEAM concepts in a fun, flexible way. Celebrate the holiday season with an evening of fun, laughter, and friendly competition at the Royalton Hartland Community Library’s Christmas Trivia Night. This special event brings together all ages for a cheerful trivia challenge filled with seasonal spirit and community connection. Teams will test their knowledge across a wide range of topics, including holiday traditions, winter themes, literature and books, sports, pop culture, and general trivia. Whether you’re a trivia pro or just looking for a cozy holiday outing, this event is designed to be engaging, welcoming, and full of joyful surprises. Participants are encouraged to form teams of at least two people, but you’re also welcome to arrive solo—staff will help you find a team if needed. Registration is required so we can ensure enough space and materials for everyone.  This program is a wonderful opportunity to unwind, connect with friends and family, and enjoy a relaxed evening at your local library during this magical time of year.
