The Defensive Driving Insurance Reduction Program is a course consisting of a series of films and discussion about driving attitudes and behaviors. It is designed for licensed drivers, but those with permits may attend. Completion of the course may result in a ten percent liability insurance discount to the principal operator as well as a maximum of four points off the driver's violation record. This program is approved by the Department of Motor Vehicles. $45/person; $35 for seniors 65+. Payment will be taken on the day of the class. Mahopac Youth Services presents our new Winter Reading Challenge!  This December,  parents can pick up a reading log for their child to track their reading progress over winter break. Read 20 minutes each day, and engage in some winter themed reading challenges/activities.  Once completed, children can exchange their reading log for a prize any time until January 31, 2026! Join us for a festive holiday film! This month's screening: The Shop Around the Corner (1940, 99 minutes, dir. Ernst Lubitsch) Come see the other Christmas classic starring Jimmy Stewart! A charming and very funny romantic comedy, it centers around Jimmy Stewart and Margaret Sullivan as two employees at a shop in Budapest who cannot stand each other, but don't realize that they are falling in love as anonymous pen pals. The film takes place around Christmas and anyone who has worked retail around the holidays is sure to relate to it! The plot may sound familiar even if you've never heard of it because it was remade with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan as You've Got Mail! This is an after-hours program for adults. Bring your own food and drink (no alcohol) and/or enjoy some of our provided refreshments and snacks. The library doors lock at 7 PM so we are required to stay on the third floor after closing time.
